After seeing these pics I agree with most here - its a 458 italia/speciale with a few extra bolt ons. The mirrors are the same as both. The side skirt when painted is basically the same as the italia and Spider. Most of the rear and exhaust is all speciale.
Love the cuts in the door but not the handle. It should be on top and flush with the body to keep a very smooth uninterrupted line to the back. The intakes behind the door are not for me. Also noticed the loss of the grilled venting above the front wheels. That looks fantastic on all 458s and should have been carried over hear as well.
Still undecided. Maybe the 488GTB Speciale Aperta will be something to see.

Disagree, to me the Porsche has a totally ridiculous looking rear wing and lacks any sort of elegance.

Having said that I too don't universally like the 488.

The internal styling department is a joke and showing that dropping Pininfarina was a seriously stupid decision!

Once the 488 is on the road, I can't help wondering how long it will be before some kid gets the bright idea to use the side vent to climb on top of the rear fender! As I mentioned some time shortly after the announcement, the side scoop with its central divider looks very much like a step-stool to me! Fred

Funny my Porsche rep said the same thing LOL. Reserving judgement till I see it in person, otherwise a California is a perfect fit for me as my next ride.

Though I stand by my reply of awesome downforce, I agree that the greater reason is that the womens love it.

BTW, everyone I ask who is a non Ferrari owner but also car guy... they all love the 488 GTB. I mean, though this is just anticdotal research, it is clear from my own experience that most I ask love the look of the car. I am warming up to it... I initially loved the rendering, then saw pictures from the Maranello preview that changed my opinion... but the video had many moments that I felt it looked great. I have a deposit down... so I'm betting that this will be another winner for Ferrari.

Well, I went to the show and am happy to say that, for me at least, the car is lovely. The vents are not an issue because the 2d photos disguise all the 3d movement in the vent and the surrounding panels. It is clearly a brother of 458 but also the 308 link is much stronger in the flesh with the side vents.

I preferred the red car, but then I usually do.

People is short memoried and forget the flak that the latest Pininfarina´s Ferraris got.

P.S: and I´d prefer that Pininfarina was designing the Ferraris too, but just for respect for the tradition not because I think they never screw it up.
