Dave I bet you can wait to come to the shop on Tuesday now can you ! Look forward to you report back the Rob as you are one of only a few that have been in our private shop and have seen our workmanship in person and meet our team of very talented craftsmen Al
As if I wasn't already. For those with interest in one of Al's cars let me say that he's passionate about what he does and how he does it.
Congrats, Rob. You're happy to be getting the car, and I'm sure the car is happy to be going to you. Love the Papal attire. I need to get me one of those outfits.
Well, I guess this is as good as any time to make my return. First of all, I cannot be more excited for Rob and his "New" 1974 308GT4. I have seen it in person, in fact seen all of Al's GT4's in person. I've laid low for a while on the 308 section because I didn't want my excitement for what Al is doing to slip here. Al is a good friend and a true Tifosi. All I can say is that he is doing something VERY, VERY special with these cars, AND he is doing it for the pure love of the model and Ferrari. I've seen several GT4 restorations done nicely, but nothing even close to what is going on here. Things are going to get exciting in 308GT4 land now that the cat is out of the bag. And could we not ask for a more deserving or enthusiastic owner of what will essentially be a 'new' GT4. I can't wait to see your story unfold here Rob. Congrats! JIM
Hi Rob, Congrats on the new car. It's exciting to see people putting a more realistic value on these terrific machines and marvellous to see you in particular grab one of these. Having just read this thread, I'm now going out to the garage to look at my own Ferrari Dino 308gt4 and give it a little pat on the bonnet and tell it that now it seems more people than just me and Rob on the other side of the world love it! Cheers, Grahame
Rob, holy cow...awesome...and well done. So, will you have three Italians stuffed into the garage soon? LS
I just got back from Al's. I couldn't be more impressed with the man, his staff and his facility. The work they do is fantastic. Their passion and expertise exemplary. The GT/4 community is extraordinary fortunate to have Al among us. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Very excited for you Rob but I think you should go for metallic blue! Wow the blue looks pretty on that car!
David, Thanks for the picture of Al, I have never seen him before. I love everything Italian and proud a real Italian is working on my car! I like the blue and dont think Im not tempted but I love red. That looks so cool. Wow will my car have fog lights? Wish I lived closer I could go over on weekends and sweep up! Rob
Euro series ones came with fogs. His driver is a nice shade of red. Not dark but not too orange either. He told me the name but I can't remember it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Rob Here are a few more Italians in the building ! They are on waiting list for now Al Image Unavailable, Please Login
Out of respect for Al's privacy I won't go into detail but wow and even double wow don't come close. The one thing I will share is that the passion and expertise that he and his guys have might be the best part.
It might be Rosso Rubino, the original color of my car. It's kinda hard to discern colors from pictures taken in different lighting conditions, with different color corrections in monitors, etc. As a printer, Rob can probably explain that much better than I can. In that pic of the Alfas I think I spy a Fiat Dino Coupe in the background.
This may be it, Rosso Chiaro 20-R-190 Touch Up Paint for 1976 Ferrari All Models And yup its a Fiat Dino.
I had to re-read this a couple times, but your new car is the consecutive assembly number from the one you already have? Wow! I can't help but have a hundred questions about the restoration. Looking forward to your posts. For example is the wiring harness new? Fuse box? How about carpets? Headliner, new or refurbished? Headers; NOS or refurbished or aftermarket?? Original points with MM coils and resistors?
