Funny, I was searching for an image on Google and spotted a 308 engine with black crinkle paint on the heads. I clicked through on a hunch and found a great shot of your engine... on the 308 GT4 Wikipedia page! You're hitting all the right buttons (including the "Buy It Now" one). :)

I was irate when I read the email from Ferrari announcing the 488:
I guess our GT4s don't qualify as berlinettas, but I still took it an official factory issued dis.

    Maybe I'm too sensitive.

Once again Ferrari proves to be a disappointing custodian of its own history.

If anyone thinks the people working at Ferrari marketing even knows what a GT4 you are fooling themselves.

I can excuse lapses among flacks easier than some of the questionable calls by Classiche.

Having owned a Porsche 928 for 10 years I became immune to the selective memory of the marketing crowd. Became amusing to see family history shots that completely left out the 1977 European Car of the Year that was produced for a further 18 years. GT4 is the same. It will be anonymous until they are seen as cool and the marketing team thinks they can shift more units by spinning some genetic tie in to that ground breaking 2+2 from 1974.

If they revive the Dino brand then the GT4 will be recognized. However I'm sure somehow the GTB/S will suddenly become part of the Dino legacy throwing the GT4 to the side.

Interesting hypothesis, and probably much more likely than we might expect. As an independent business, they are limited by how far they can push the high-end of the F-brand before they dilute the prestige factor. If they resurrect the Dino sub-brand then they can go down-market and move a lot more hardware without putting margin pressure on the high horse.

    Hmmm...

Maserati won't be a subbrand anymore. It'll be a competitor.

    NO !

Euro series came with passing lights (high beam) and with no Fog lights !

75% of the euro GT/4 have been "rewired" (incorrect electricaly wired), but original the "fogs" are Passing Lights, wich only flash, when the driving lights are shut off.
When the driving lights are ON, the lower "fogs" are dead, the passing Flash then is at the second bulbs at the "eyes".

    No need to yell.
    ;)

Excuse my inexactitude. I was using "fog lights" when I meant auxiliary lights of one sort or another.

Well done Rob, certainly makes me feel better.
By the way, my 74 (which you know) is to be exhibited as the last in the line in an Italian celebration of 50 years of the Ferrari Dino here in Melbourne 12th of next month. Someone, including I believe Ferrari, is recognizing the Dino heritage. Cheers, W.

Rob, thanks for this thread. If possible, could you provide a little blurb of info regarding each pic-- things like whether a part is re-built, reproduction or new original and from where the part was sourced would be really nice to know. For instance, the chrome bezel around my Tach is bent and dented and I either need it straightened or replaced. Knowing who to go to that knows gt4's would save a lot of time and effort.
