I just started driving my 348 spider after the engine out I performed. After the first couple drives I started to wonder if this car is really for me. In fact, I listed it in the for sale section.

But the more I drive it the more I like it. I made a right turn on the commute this morning in front of about 25 cars in a lurid slide that would have made Magnum P.I. (or maybe even a Sprint Car driver) proud. That's what I'm talkin' about.

It gets constant stares when I'm driving. My gf kinda seems to like it.

And, I got 19mpg on the first tank of gas. Not too bad. I'm a teacher and I have driven it to school 3 times now. The kids dig it too. It doesn't hurt that the daytime highs hear in Northern CA have been in the low 70's recently either.

So, yah, I can see what all the fuss is about.

As with most Ferraris they are very addictive to drive and so much fun. The steering feel is incredible. Glad to hear you're enjoying it.

i turned in about 25mpg when doing straight highway, pretty crazy considering i had leaky fuel pressure regulators.
the 348 is by far the most fun of any car i have owned. it's also the only car that doesn't make me mis my Ducati's. i just can't wait until spring!! Damn you winter.

Seriously, it is a bit of fun to drive.
Wife says I have a huge smile on my face when I drive it. The 355 is fun but more a luxury car.

Your right it reminds me of being on a bike same "feel" over tar strips and grooved pavement

Gotta be careful in the spring and fall with low temperatures. These cars get pretty damn squirrelly!

not so sure what it is with the 348....from a car i never once thought i'll get to something i can't do without....every time the thought pops in: "let's try something else"..or when i look at the horrid looking squarish rear-end and think "hey, round lights at the back is the way to go (maybe a GTR, an Exige...or even maybe the 355!!....)"....i just got to take her for a spin and makes me realise all over why i have to have the 348!!! it's a bit like sex...well from the reverse, if you get my drift.....for the former, you really want it, once it's over, you're like "okieeee let's move on, what was all the fuss about".....for the 348...it works in the reverse!

You have a really twisted view of what defines a luxury car lol.

Your price is very reasonable for a fresh major, too. Better take that ad down now :)

When you drive a 348 you discover it's naughty little secret that others will never know:

    It's a big go-cart on the road!

Direct steering, firm suspension and a back end that wants to come round to see where you're going if you push it too hard.

If you want to know how to get the best out of a 348, My suggestion is to go and drive some performance go-carts first, and then you'll have a much better understanding of the 348.

    In the words of JFK:

"Its hazards are hostile to us all. Its conquest deserves the best of all mankind, and its opportunity for peaceful cooperation may never come again. But why, some say, the 348?

Why choose this as our goal? And they may well ask why climb the highest mountain? Why, 35 years ago, fly the Atlantic? Why does Rice play Texas?

We choose the 348. We choose to drive a 348 in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too."

JFK would have understood the 348! :)

My 348 is the most fuel efficient car I have, 24 to 26 mpg out on the highway. Daily driver is a 2001 Durango, 16 mpg. Hmmmm . . . maybe the 348 should be the daily driver. :)

I seriously wonder if that could be done and have it be reliable.

I don't have design concerns, just concerns with it being an older car. My own daily drivers (not Ferraris) are about 10 years old each... and the age/mileage does take its toll on reliability after a while, prompting more frequent and more expensive maintenance than you'd have on a new car.

The thought of using a 348 as a daily driver does sound tempting... but also scary.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

Sy, yes it was a great day....as were the Brands Hatch days - and still are. Not seen you at them, and we do them annually.

I tend to take my Lotus these days though: Brands Hatch - YouTube

Some awesome exotics in that video, including (old) F1 cars on track with me, and a Pagani Zonda F, plus plenty of assorted Ferraris.

bjwhite, glad you enjoyed them :)
