    Hello guys,

I am new here and I have since a long time passion for the red cars from Maranello.

I would like to add a nice Ferrari for about 100k to my Porsche collection.

I have to say that I am a collector and would like to enjoy the Ferrari about 500-1000miles per year.

I have now the choice between:

    - 599 GTB 10k miles
    - 575 F1 600 miles
    - F430 Manual, 10k miles
    - 550 20k miles

    All the same price.

Independet from the different driving feeling which one do you think will keep the best value in the next years?

    Thanks and best regards

If you're going to drive it that little I'd take the 430 as It'll likely be the biggest adrenaline thrill (noise, occasion etc).

IMO in your selection two cars are interesting under a collectors point of view: the 575 F1 has extremely few miles, this is rare. But think about; Maranello's are very popular with manual transmission. The F430 also has relatively less miles. The big advantage of this car is the manual transmission, also very rare.

To drive are all four cars very nice.

Daniel- At 10-15% three pedal F430s (UK 15.7%, only number I have), there are about as many (1500-2250) three pedal F430s as the total number of 575Ms (2064). So not that rare.

The 550 and 575M have stopped depreciating, the 599 and F430 have not. Performance for the F430 and 575M is about equal, the 599 really blows all of them away except the F430 in the twisties.

These are all very different Ferraris.

Your particular situation deserves either a 550 or 575. Nothing beats their classy appeal and sculpted looks. It will also appreciate the best out of your choices. 550 so you have the classic gated shifter in your collection.

    Thanks you guys!

I really got your point regarding the 550 or 575. I really like their classic look and the best would be to combine the natural aspirated V12 with the manual gearbox in the 550.

But what I am confused are the production figures:

For the 550 I saw the figures 2064, 3083 and 3700. Totally for 550 I saw 4715 and 7684? What are the rest?

For the manual F430 I found out 5-7% out of 16000 so less than 1000.

And what ist my biggest questionmark: how many 599 GTB were build?

Maybe some of you knows more??

    Cheers

I find it hard to believe a 550 with 20k miles is the same as an F430 stick with 10k miles. But if that is correct then good for you. Or a 575 with only 600 miles?!?!

My vote would be to get one of the V12 cars as a counterpoint to your Porsches. Reasons why:

    1. Classic Ferrari V12 front engine layout.
    2. The layout is most different from the 911 rear engine layout.
    3. More timeless styling in all 3 V12 shapes IMHO

As to the choices. Between the 550 and 575 I would go with the 550 because its stick but the 575 has many improvements and I am not that knowledgable about the differences. Taz above really really knows this stuff cold.

The 599 is less visceral at lower speeds than the 550 (not sure about the 575) and really is a car meant for longer high speed journeys.

If you are doing a lot of longer distance driving then the 599 no doubt. If you want this as something to bop around in, I think theres nothing like the enjoyment of rowing your own gears.

I think the best car is the 599. The best Ferrari is probably the 575 with 600 miles.

That said, I like the 575 over nearly all other modern Ferraris. I will be tempted to move to an F12 when that starts dropping in price.

If the 575 is a nice looking/equipped car- At 600 miles I'd jump on that...

Production numbers: 550 3083 all 3 pedal, 575M 2064, 246 three pedal. No idea where you got the other weird numbers unless someone added 3083 and 2064 to get 5147 total 550s and 575Ms, plus there were 448 + 12 prototype Barchettas and 559 Superamericas.

5-7% is way too low for F430 3 pedals. The only real number we have is UK RHD, where 15.7% were three pedals. In the US an estimate of 10-15% will likely bound production. 575Ms were 11.9% and 612s about 10%.

Unless you have daily access to a derestricted autobahn, a 599 is pretty anodyne. (F12, something else entirely but aurevoir licence.) You don't say what Porsches you have but the 599 and 991 Turbo S are the two least interesting ways I have driven to get to 200 mph, a 550 is more like a 993 in feel. 430 something else, more like a 996 GT3. Sort of.

Or a gated 430. Whichever you don't buy, let us know so that one of us may take advantage of these deals of the century.

You can get gated 430s and F1 599s for 100k USD in Europe right now with the weak Euro. Am trying hard not to buy a gated 430 this week.

Oh for Enzo's sake, someone drive and enjoy this car.

I'd say it's a close call between the 550 and the 575. I'd go with the 575: mileage seem to matter a lot for collectors and auctioneers, and that must be one of the less driven 575s out there, bearing in mind we're talking about a GT. The 550s appreciation is still up for some debate, and F430's/599's production numbers differ considerably from the 550/575 family, namely the 575.

    Kind regards,

    Nuno.
