On pelican PU911 inquired on the car and posted it was a color change repaint. So $97.5K seems more like a realistic price in today's market. For a car like this that needs lots of $$$$$ spent the market still looks pretty strong.

Sadly, I was late to the car. I was told someone from San Diego was flying up to look and buy it. Owner said he would call if the buyer passed. Never heard, so... Also, seller said he didn't intend on taking a penny less than his ask and that he felt he underpriced the car because of interest. Said he had 15 calls on her.

Once again with glaring aftermarket radio. It's interesting to see that the market does not care for the moment about 'last mile' detailing. 7-8 years ago when I was shopping for a GTC and they were ~$200K, most of them had aftermarket stereos. Now when they are $~700K++, you never see one without the correct unit. I am going to start hoarding Bambergs I encounter: they are a vastly more complicated and specialized contraption than the simple radios of the 60's and I predict will be very valuable!

Related: I also wonder when buyers will insist on the correct tires: the 185/205 combination that was original to the 3.0s looked weirdly undersized for many years but now has period charm (not to mention a different feel behind the wheel) Its only a matter of time before there is a re-issue of the CN36 for the rears, the fronts are already out.

As I replied on pelican to the 930 coming to above mentioned auction with estimate @ $170K to $200K . Will be interesting, for sure. I have a number of interested buyers in my ice green metallic. Unlike this one, mine is excellent original paint, interior and original radio, and kept in perfect running, driving condition in every way by the original owner and has less miles. So if this car gets into that reserve mine may get a new home if the current buyers add the value of original vs restored.

The Symbolic cars production date seems misaligned?

I would have put that chassis number at around September 75?

Or do the ROW chassis # and US numbers chassis # not run consecutively?

Typo, should be 11/75 vs. 11/76 per the VIN decal. Unusual that a U.S. 1976 Turbo Carrera has a chassis number plate in the trunk.

Also posted as pending sold- in less than 24 hours. Bill has sold 3 930's in the last three months - they have all sold very quickly- one was a flip from EC. Even Symbolic may be slightly behind market on these.

That's a huge variation between the Brown ebay car and the symbolic car.

What more proof would you want about modifications.

More going on than just the mods between the two cars. Everything on brown car can be fixed for about $10k, seller should have made those repairs and sold but he was thrilled with sales prices as he though car was worth about $35-40k. Symbolic can get a lot more $$ for a car than average ebay seller.

A nice 3.0 litre turbo is $200,000 plus now, with really good cars nearer $300,000. Times change fast!

Times can change fast, for sure. As an exotic dealer since the early 1980s, I remember it happened that way in the Ferrari , Aston, etc. markets as I recall decades ago. Once the value goes up some decide to sell and the many that want one around the world, move quickly when they become available. Especially from a dealership that has the kind of cars, and locations Symbolic has, with customers to match. The major auction companies are also aware of the action so they too are hunting for consignments of 930s.

So what will happen when a 100 point first year of production car comes to a high profile auction? People argue that the surge in prices that occurred to the 2.7rs can't happen again with the 930 3.0. But it was a homologation special in the same way that the rs was, and production numbers were not that high. I think that these cars are hot property right now, who knows where they will be in 18 months time?

flumpy, especially when the early turbo owners and current interested buyers read stuff like this!! from a post on the previous page #180. All I can say is a picture is worth a thousand words.

Everything I am hearing about the 76 930 is the cats meow, however, the worst part about this appreciation is I could never get myself to sell it.

9306800014 appeared in Henry Rasmussen’s book, “Porsche Six Cylinder Supercars”. The author considered it one of the top ten Porsche’s and the chapter mentions that preproduction 1976 Turbo Carrera’s 011 and 012 were engaged in display and photographic assignments while 013 and 014 were used for U.S. type approval. The chapter also mentions that 014 had 4,000 miles on the odometer when originally purchased by Pete Smith in Hollywood, California. As of the book’s publication date in 1992, it did not have the rear bumper RoW reflectors.

AUTOart's new 1:18 1976 Turbo model. Besides the incorrect front fender RoW reflectors and interior center console, this model looks accurate - even has a Turbo name plaque on the glovebox lid. Fitted with non-optioned A/C and optional sunroof.
