Enjoy the LM now , you've waited almost 30 years to get one. Now we have a supercharged M5 track car to build
On a technical note the best decision we made was to bin the 2 decades old Magnetic Spaghetti ECUs and go for a current standalone ECU. Running individual EGTs for all cylinders (the Haltech guy thought we were nuts) has been key in tracking down engine set up problems that probably caused this LM to be parked for over 10 years by the previous owner.
Are you talking about the ignition boxes? Same as used in other cars and I've never had trouble in Ferrari or Lambo. In fact we have seen less trouble with Marelli Microplex than the Bosch Motronic that replaced it. The injection ecus on the other hand are some home made junk and are such garbage Radio Shack wouldn't take credit for them.
Hi Brian, We replaced both systems The injection boxes had been sitting on top of a puddle of water under the right hand seat for 10 years which didn't help. The great feature now is we can plug in a lap top and see what's going on in real time. .
I was able to capture a quick video of Taffy's emotional response when he finally accepted the LM002 war was over [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p25bS4VXYq8[/ame] And yes he wept quietly ...
Thanks Jonathan. @Brian : We dumped everything. New standalone Haltech ECU replaces the two old ECUs, the ignition box is no longer needed, it is integrated in the Haltech coils.
No question, advantages to be had that way. Congrats on the job and congrats on being done. Now all you have to do is find some money to keep it's thirsty fuel tank filled.
Have you noticed that the fuel tank is not 290Lts as stated in the factory specs, it is about 200Lts, so your 45 gallons sounds about right.
To be honest I have never read the capacities section. I once had the tanks out of a carb truck. The dealer I worked at had our own gas pump so when I put it back together I went out back with a 5 gallon can and filled it. Well it wasn't enough to get the fuel pump to prime so I put another 5 gallons in it. Then drove it around back and filled it. It took more than another 60 gallons to fill. Those back seats hold a lot of gas.
Colorful engine bay. Quite a contrast compared to the exterior. The ignition cable is new Image Unavailable, Please Login
9 is close to zero on the keyboard , they probably typed the specification sheet after another long Italian lunch
