After two years of club racing I decided to go pro racing this year. I have started a new race team called Strategic Wealth Racing which is running a Porsche Cayman in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge (CTSC) this season. We already had our first race in Daytona in January and it was a blast! I made a rookie mistake on the pit stop that cost us a better finish (20th) then we should have gotten but the team is excited for our next race March 20th at Sebring. For those that don't know CTSC is a support race for the Tudor races.

This a truly a grassroots effort. I attended my first racing school at Skip Barber about 7 years ago. It was two years later in 2010 that I attended my first DE. One year after that I had a dedicated track car with a tow vehicle etc. In 2013 I bought my first race car a Cayman Interseries and started doing club racing. In CTSC we are racing a Cayman as well but this one is the base model. I have long time pro-driver and racing instructor John Lewis co-driving with me and we are being supported by Goldcrest Motorsports. Goldcrest has supported many championship winning cars and I hope that over time we get competitive enough to continue that success.

My long term goals are ever changing but my ultimate goal to have a class win at the 24 Hours of LeMans. Might as well set my sights high right! For those that are interested I can post my progress here throughout the year and I can share my thoughts on the differences between DE's, club races and pro racing. I tell you one big difference is the intensity and the distractions of the race weekends!

It's been quite interesting to watch the Cayman become the platform of choice in ST. I raced one in GS back in 2010 and it was a lovely car once we got it sorted, although we were ultimately outgunned in a V8 world. It's been no surprise to see the car come into its own without a 150+ horsepower deficit to deal with.

    Good luck at Sebring!

    Very exciting.

How did you decide to continue running a Cayman and also how did you decide on CTSC versus another series such as PWC?

After running a Cayman for the past couple of years it was a natural choice for me because of how familiar I am with the car. Plus Goldcrest Motorsports has a lot of experience racing the Cayman because they support GTSport Racing in PWC and their two Cayman's.

I looked at doing PWC and maybe at some point I will do some races with them but I like the challenge of endurance racing. I like having to have a good strategy in addition to a fast car. In my experience with club racing I was much stronger in the enduro's versus the sprint races. I don't typically have a blazing lap, but I have a lot of fast very consistent laps. Last, with my goal of doing all of the major endurance races at some point being in and around the Tudor paddock makes more since to me.

Thanks!! The new GT4 race car is rumored to be headed into GS to replace the 997's.

Hello Matt, not sure but couldnt you build your own GT4 using a larger engine and a couple of body mods. Has to be less expensive than the factory version.

Oh and Pawel, Charles said great to hear from you and even discribed your car to me.

Great pictures!! It was hot! The Cool Suit did not work for my co-driver so he was burning up. Have to be in shape!

Small world. Great seeing you on here Matt. That was a hot day and being in a Cayman with the motor right behind the seat didn't help. It was blazing. My CoolSuit quit working, the helmet blower popped off my helmet but I still had water so it wasn't all bad. But damn it was hot. At Laguna I will make a point to introduce myself to you.

Cool didn't know you were on here either. When my co-driver John Lewis took over the water that was in the drink tube burned him when he took his first drink! I think one of the other cars under your tent had an off and then a close call with me during qualifying. I posted a video of it on our FB page. Let's catch up at Laguna!
