The standard sound system in the Speciale is absolute cr*p. Has anyone done anything simple (maybe add a bass speaker or amp) to make it useable. I really don't want a big overhaul and would prefer these items out of site.

I've been struggling with the factory for three months trying to get them to delete the radio entirely from my Speciale. They said no, then yes, then no again. So I'm stuck with the radio...and SAT, and NAV. I'll never even turn on these things.

Not much help, was I? LOL. I'm still blowing off steam because we I even told the factory I'd pay by hem extra NOT to install the radio :)

I had custom boxes made that fit on the parcel shelf - they each hold an 8" sub, were made of leather to match the interior, and they do not interfere with the seat adjustment at all. Car Toys (sounds sketchy, but they've done many 458 radar / laser installs) did a great job. Also replaced the stock speakers w/ Focal units. Total was around 10k

excellent my guy recommends replacing the std door speakers and adding an AMP. He has done some 458's and will go see the pics.

The factory sound systems in all 458's are worthless. Aftermarket is the only way to go.

I noticed the Ferrari Speciale factory press car was also built to be as light as possible. No SAT, NAV, STEREO or leather and lots of CF bits. They seem to be setting a poor example of what the customer can actually order with that press car based on their reluctance to actually deliver a car in that stripped down specification...

I actually spoke to someone at FNA a few weeks ago about this "radio delete" issue. They were aware of two US Speciales that were in fact made without the radio...you are one of them and the other guy is in southern California. They told me that deleting the radio on US Speciales caused "problems on the production line" so the factory decided it would no longer be allowed :( they also told me about a half dozen other guys besides me had also been trying to delete the radio. No luck.

The fact they get $5600 for JBL garbage is beyond me.

I saw a white Speciale at Ferrari of Newport Beach last month without a radio and no SAT antenna on the roof. Was this your Speciale? Very nice spec.

Honestly, because he wants it that way. And it's offered in most markets in that configuration. I would think when you are paying $300k+ you should be able to get what you want.

When I ordered mine (September 2013) Radio and Nav was an option, standard was without. It became standard in spring 2014 AFAIK, along with Telemetry.

I care :) I'd prefer my Speciale to be bare bones. No frills (radio, speakers, dorky SAT antenna on the roof, etc.). I'd even eliminate power windows and air conditioning if possible. I understand that requesting something like eliminating power windows would cause a lot of problems so I wouldn't even consider requesting something like that. But since most Speciales are built without radios I thought (and still think) it was a very reasonable request and ferrari should have done it.

So here's my solution to the "crappy" sound system in the Speciale. Speciale sound system $6k, Bose sound system $300. I just cant comprehend how Ferrari could provide such rubbish when Bose can provide these Soundlinks with awesome clarity and plenty base in the same car!!!

Its a Bose Soundlink mini with an iPod. Bose speakers with small amp. Does not need to be plugged into anything. Bose has 8hr charge and can be charged from the cigarette lighter if need be. Its portable. Took the car out this morning and 10X better than the crap in the car.

Exactly what I am doing with my incoming Speciale.

I will review the potential speakers on the market, and am even considering having two speakers connected via a Bluetooth link, situated behind the seat backs.

iPad mini as a source, at the same time navigation unit.

All for a fraction of the price, and easily upgradeable and removable.

    Best, w
