Careful, lest you begin to sound like a speculator and less like an enthusiast. :)
Congratulations on this purchase of a fine example.

Congratulations on a Rosso Perlato 25th Anniversario!

    However.

As key 03 points out, one can be forgiven for noting that your last post reads precisely like the musings of a dyed-in-the-wool speculator! Once financial investment and potential returns lead the discussion even before the new-car allure has worn off, speculation becomes the focus. Since none of us has a clue what will happen in the future, its exactly that - speculation.

    Buy It Now Price

Your wrong Scott, the price can be raised on a listing unless there has been a bid made on it and as you can see the price was clearly changed on this listing. There was only 1 listing for this car. You posted on this thread on 2/6/15 that you had purchased the car that day and funny enough as you can see the price was raised to $525k on that very same day. I can not think of any motive the seller would have to do that ? I have no problem at all with people making money, I do however have a problem with people trying to manipulate the market with false information and sale prices.

Not just the same day but less than 2 minutes before the item was pulled from auction. Very odd. Does smack of an attempt at market manipulation but exactly why the seller did this is unknown.

Perhaps the seller has more to sell and is pulling a fast one to say "see, here is what I sold the last one for". So unlike a dealer to pull a stunt like that though.....

    Ahh...

So that's how it going to go. Get the torches and pitch forks. Scott must have done this because I can't figure out who else would. Keep one thing in mind, I ponied up and bought a car that EVERYONE had access to. And I obviously don't have the seller's eBay credentials to perform the "Manipulation" as suggested.

Wow, those are some really sour grapes. I'm a dealer and very proud of it.

Sorry to get in your sand box.

    This isn't enjoyable anymore.

I bought a car and now your going to put me on the witness stand because I won't tell you what I paid for it.

    Childish.

    $360,000

    Happy?

    Good bye.

I think the curiosity & resultant confusion by other posters is quite understandable and based on a simple premise: they are wondering if you knew the Seller, bought the car, and requested the revision. If this is not the case, then clearly the adjustment was the Seller's prerogative and comments here are a matter of speculation.

As for the fact that you are a car dealer Scott Ales & Automobiles I don't think anyone minds one bit, but for the uninitiated, knowing this does give some of your speculative comments here good perspective.

Bear in mind that many of the posters have been here a long time, and when someone who they perceive to simply be a fellow owner who has been lucky to find a good car joins the discussion anew, I can see how they are wanting to know about the acquisition details and future plans. Its a matter of sharing the excitement.

That said, everyone has been quite congratulatory on your purchase, and that's what really matters.

I say stick around and the various discussions will be to your benefit.

A fair-enough question: is the Rosso Perlato 25th available again, and at what price now?

Why are YOU getting defensive? I could care less what you paid for your car - I would assume something close to current market value - but again, I don't care. And it doesn't appear relevant to what happened as the ebay auction was pulled. (FWIW, looks like a great car). But it seems beyond odd that the ebay seller would dramatically raise the price of the auction, to what appears to be way over the current market, at the same time they were pulling the auction. Do you have any other suggestion other than manipulation? I'd love to hear it.

  11. Scott, it's just conversation from rabid enthusiasts, nothing more. Obviously your call, but I'd like to see you stick around as well.

I appreciate the comments and support from those who offered them.

With God as my witness, "I did not suggest or ask the seller to do anything with the ebay auction other than end it." If someone doesn't believe that, it is their issue, not mine or the Lord's. And I don't have mind control over the folks that sell me cars either.

I've been playing with cars since I was 12 years old. My father gave me a $500 1942 Ford pickup which I drove around the 10 acres we had in Iowa. Several thousand cars, trucks, tractors, boats, buses, RVs, dozers, motorcycles, and one plane later, I really don't consider myself a newbie. I mean really, if I walk up to a bunch of car guys at an event they don't treat me this way.

Is this the forum's version of Hazing? lol

My car is not for sale, unless (like everyone else) circumstances dictate otherwise. Currently and thankfully, that is not an issue for us. When that day comes it will be a private sale or at auction. We rarely if ever advertise traditionally.

Exotic Car Transport is planning to move the car to Amelia tomorrow for the Saturday Festivals of Speed event. I would enjoy meeting some of you face to face. Don't be afraid to walk up and say hello using my screen and real name! You might have noticed they are the same.

I'll stick around and play. Maybe I can encourage other new folks to get through the initial ritual.

Yes, stay. FWIW my comments were directed at the seller and their motives alone. I was born and raised in Waverly, Iowa and so like you I have a Midwestern mindset that would preclude judging someone unfairly. Once again, your Countach is a stunning example and I'm sure is garnering a lot of attention at Amelia.

    Getting back to values...

The pearl white Gooding car yesterday was also very flat with the car not selling in the end. No phone bids, No paddles in the air, no ringmen calling to the auctioneer. So far it is safe to say there are no buyers for a Countach here this weekend.

To me, the significant increase in No-Sales of both Ferraris & Lamborghinis is a result of Buyers speaking collectively and establishing limits contrary to the suggested estimates of Sellers.

This sends a clear message in the market, as we have seen before, and underscores the fact that we are dealing with a post-peak scenario for some cars.

The Porsches and Ferraris carried the weekend for the most part. How about the one of 20 ever produced 2007 Ferrari 599 GTB stick shift cars that sold for $682K? Or the 1980 Ferrari 512BB for $418K? There were certainly fewer records and big hits than years past but still other outliers like above the shocked everyone. Or at least me!
