Seems that Lambo keeps playing it safe or going with their one hit wonder or something by simply updating the Countach in order to fit the times. I mean the Diablo was a conservative Countach for the conservative 90's. And the Murci, A Germanic Countach. As well as the Aventador being an evil Countach. Lambo needs to step it up and build an all new supercar because a Countach for every time is getting a bit tiresome.

Stop Please ha ha i think they should use the Aventador tech but a car more Countach ,ish in looks,,pick up the Lp 400 rear wheel arches, end so on in a modern flair, tons of design elements on the original car wich can be brought up to modern dimensions, imagine th Countach periscopo look ,in a full width 80 inch size, clean crisp no flairs, dramatic angled side glass, salivating thoughts.

    Hmmmm...... Interesting thoughts.

I assume you are a multi-Lambo owner that has become bored with the factory's offerings.

Please feel free to enlighten all of us about the specific changes you would like to see.

When you get a chance, please post pictures of your current collection.

We would love to see them.

I mean brand recognition or whatever they call it in labor camp(corporate) world is something that the lesser car companies have to do in order to survive. However in supercar world, the new one has to be super-spectacular. Something that has never been seen before and knocks your socks off. And that is how people know it is a new Lamborghini. I suppose Chrysler ownership followed by VW ownership is to blame. But still, Lambo should explain to the Jerries that a refined version of the old to fit the times is not going to cut it in the realm of supercars.

Wow, are they still using the Countach 4 liter block in the Aventador? Well, I hope they at least upgrade the crappy Countach brake calipers.

I guess if I bring a laptop in my Countach I will at least "feel" like I'm in an Aventador.

BTW, good opening post there abby.

Historically speaking Lamborghini didn't just build supercars. Currently they offer more or less a senior and junior version of just that. The performances are spectacular and visually I'd say they're very Countach like. Their vintage GT road cars were nothing like that perhaps the Espada being more exotic and avant garde looking than the rest.

Exactly what is so ho hum about the Aventador?

Is a front engined supercar what you're seeking?

Lamborghini is far from a one hit wonder.

First you had the 350 GT
    Followed by the Miura
    Then the Countach
The Silhouette was far from a slouch
    The Jalpa
LM002 talk about testing the waters, a V12 truck
    The Diablo
    Gallardo
    Mercelago
    Aventador

    The list goes on.

And everything except the LM002 has just been a different version of the Countach since it was introduced.

Look at the styling of their flagship car before the Countach, all were wildly different (and beautiful). 350/400GT vastly different than the Miura that followed. Countach vastly different than the Miura and then bam, just updated versions of the Countach from there out. It's disappointing. At least Porsche flagships are wildly different from each other (959, Carrera GT, 918) even if the 911 stays mostly the same. Not so for Lambo, the flagship (and even the junior car) all are variations on the same theme.

Fair enough, however the original poster did ask the question if Lamborghini was playing it safe by sticking with their one hit wonder the Countach.
I merely pointed out that I Lamborghini had many hits not just one, as the Countach certainly was not their first nor their last hit IMO.
    Sincerely Vic

Would you say the Asterion is just another re-working of the Countach mold?

I don't think that I could make that statement.

    Hope they build it.

No, but they've had a few concepts that weren't in the countach mold that never made it to production. The point is that they've just been selling updated versions of the Countach for 40 years.

I can't much argue with that. Just wish they'd bring out an updated version of the Espada!

I guess it's only the mid engine models that garner most of your attention.

That is kind of monotonous though I think the latest models haven't all that much in common with a Countach except that the Aventador is really wild looking.

One question then. When you look at an Aventador does it immediatly say Lamborghini to you?

The Gallardo was a fresh approach. Why mess with success ? Plenty of eclectic L car bodies over the years (Supercar/GT cruiser - 2+2/8 cyl GT cars). The Diablo and Murcielago roadster are both a departure from the same stale approach :D.

You need an all in one Nav/stereo/clock/back-up camera/parking sensor beeper/blue tooth/mp3 hook-up in the center of your Countach ;).

    Ridiculous post by OP.

The same could be asked of GM with the 2015 C7 Corvette...the cam is in the block and the V8 is a pushrod engine that was developed in the '50s.

You can express an opinion (no matter how polarizing) on this site without having to be vetted by ownership of what you have an opinion on. This kind of elitist "don't speak unless you own the car" thinking has never been prevalent here.

What car have they introduced since '74 that wasn't a countach look alike mid-engined car (besides the LM002)?

A lot of very knowledgeable people here that do not own Ferrari/Lamborghini.
Stupid reason to rule them out.

Which car is? I'm really curious what car you think even remotely looks like a Countach?

If you want to talk about similar engineering design then I'm with you until the Aventador.

    Thank you for correcting me.

Usually when a persons very first post speaks negatively about a brand of car that I have a deep passion for, I assume they are either a disenfranchised owner, a collector of other non Lamborghini car(s)....... or a troll looking to stir up trouble.

When their second post uses inflammatory wording such as "work camps" and "Jerries" it tends to support the "trolling" hypothesis.

Personally, I don't give a rats arse what the original poster drives. However, asking for a picture of their current car(s)has the effect of sending trolls back under their rock.

The OP is really quite ridiculous posting a thread like this. Can we reference the Porsche 911, most Ferrari mid-engine V-8s from the 348 on, Chevrolet Corvette. It is called evolution and obviously it is a successful business model hence the aforementioned models lineage durability

    Pointless and retarded thread.
The Countach is what it is, and was of its time. This is true of each successive generation of mid engined super sports car Lamborghini have released since.
Does anyone really want another Countach anyway, whatever that's supposed to mean?
