Wow. Is this the first public sale above original MSRP? Looks like a silver/black F1. Estimate was 100-125k. 13k miles on the odometer.
Lot #47 1999 F355 FI Spider Serie Fiorano VIN ZFFXR48A0X0116495 Est: $100,000 - $125,000 Sold: $180,000 +commission ($198,000 total)
I have passed on a few of these due to the F1 and spider spec - This sale will bring the MKT up considerably and rightfully so. Everyone has noticed hardly any GTB's or GTS's on the mkt as of late, with nice 993 TT going for over 200K today - 355's should be in lockstep. I think the biggest bargain in the Ferrari world has finally been recognized, the 355 is a wonderful car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
This is the first thing I thought of. How much will this sale effect the overall F355 market. It will be interesting to see. Is every Fiorano that comes up for sale going to have an asking price in the same ballpark as this sale now?
It wouldn't surprise me. After the creampuff Stradale sold for $286K including buyer's premium this past January in Scottsdale, asking prices lifted significantly across the board. This result will clearly impact the price of limited edition F355's (Series Fiorano, Challenge cars). The trickle down effect to pedestrian F355's will be limited to the nicest cars in my opinion. Time will tell!
It was a female buyer. That explains why she wanted the F1. Just kidding, I'm thrilled to see this, but it actually was a female buyer.
Buyer overpaid in my opinion. Fiorano's can be had for less. Not denying the market is moving up for 355's, but 180k is ludicrous. I think the original estimate was right.
Is she single? I'm not but any woman that has the means to drop 200 large on an F355 and DOES IT is my kind of woman. Wow, that is a good supporting indicator that the 355 sale isn't just a fluke.
Ludicrous is what many have been saying about the Vintage then 70's then 80's Ferrari market for years now. I am shocked at this price but if someone with more money is willing to pay more than what you think it is worth.... well, that is what it is worth. For better or worse.
Alcohol and car auctions do not mix people. Do not dare for a second believe that this is the start of a trend on 355's. That would be delusional. Your cars are worth what they were before the auction and will be for quite some time. I wonder what the buyer thinks now that they discovered that this may be 1 of 100 Fioranos but it's also 1 of thousands of F1 spiders.
Time will tell. I know prices have gone up 20-30% in the past year, I think u will start seeing GTB's and GTS's and nice spiders for over 100k regularly. They are stunning fabulous cars: Image Unavailable, Please Login
Agreed. A misinformed buyer. 1/100 probably had her thinking it would be a great investment. Not entirely false, but definitely overpaid.
Guessing I should have picked this one up before it sold a few weeks back then! Ha! Radical Motor Sports of New Jersey | Pre-owned Dealer | Ramsey, New Jersey
