For sure. The real number here is the $396K because that is what the buyer is really paying to get the car and needs to recoup to be made whole at resale.

$400K for an injected QV who would have thought 3 years ago these are mainstream price now that is being rejected by a seller!!!
May be that buyer should get in touch with the owner of the black one here for $315K...

Not so great for Espadas then even if it was a S3. That looked pretty nice. Not completely original and a few rough spots but from the photos it looked decent.

    It's begun ...

ssssssssssssssssssssss not a burst but a slower leak .... ? Starting with the catfish of Lamborghinis.

its an S3 with 5 bolt wheels , side markers , and an ugly interior ? might that have had anything to do with the hammer price or am I just optimistic there is other reasons like an over ambitious estimate range for example ?

Gary that's kind of rough ... I don't mind the interior all that much but yes it is non original.
That can be fixed with $10-15K. We prefer the S2 but I'm not going to say every S3 is with those wheels and side markers is inherently ugly. Not a fan of the rubber bumpers though.

I do think $160K was over the top but there have already been some $200K cars ans with stuff going nuts last year I can see how they "went for it".

A far less spectacular one with the rubber tits went for $83K a few weeks ago at a local auction in California and subsequently ended up at BH Motors where it sold promptly for more than this one so ... ?

    I agree

I remember, it was offered by private sale for USD 3,000,000 just 3 months ago.

so including fees, how much does it make ?

I haven't checked with the auction house, but I imagine $2.3m cost to the Buyer, $1.9m to the Seller. Another result that underscores that the peak was last year August @ Pebble Beach.

I think the strategy of "take it to the auction and hit a home run" may not be working out in many cases.

If I am in the market to purchase a Lamborghini and see a potential object coming up for auction, I definitely don't care where, what day or time the auction is.
So no, I am not following your easy conclusion to pull the car and the assumption that it will get more at a different/later time slot.

Would be interesting to see how you guys look at this!

Healthy price. When solid valves have been installed by a marque expert this should add confidence to bidders...

Busy week so somehow, I missed this post - totally agree with you!

Pursuing a Countach is all about want, desire etc. So a serious Countach buyer will go wherever at whatever time to bid or buy.

I mean, can you imagine a Countach buyer saying: "I really want that car, but it goes over the block on Thursday at noon so I'm not going to bid seriously. However, if it was going over on FRIDAY at 9pm, I would go all the way!"

    :D

I think when you see an excuse that the time-slot was not good, its just that, an excuse, for why the car didn't achieve what was expected.

The 1971 Jarama 400GT lot #433 did not reach it's estimate today.
Bidding halted at $160k as far as I know.
