    Actually You may be correct.
It is a typo. 200 and 290 is too close on the keyboard.

If they can't get the specification right on the brochure makes you worry about things like fuel maps

So good to see it finished.

If I get one, and go crazy I will use many of the things you have done to make mine work too.

I hope you get great enjoyment from it

    Thanks Chris, Taz,

The LM is still running a bit rich, we will have to do another fuel trim.

I share this restoration/modification experience in this forum so that owners/future owners can duplicate this and improve on what I had done. Hopefully the car will be much more reliable than factory standard.

    Cheers,
    Taffy

    Problem no 1 :
    =========

When hot, car does not want to start.
We check from the ECU, the Magnetic Spaghetti ignition trigger at HOME (IIRC it is part no SEN8D) did not want to read.
The occurence is getting more and more often.
Our air gap is about 0.9mm which is between the factory suggested range of 0.5-1.0mm
This is a brand new ignition sensor. Maybe it is also getting weak (??)
We also do know know the OEM voltage on this sensor @100rpm, 300rpm, 500rpm, etc. We are using the common setting used in other cars, about 0.25v @100rpm.

Solution : make the gap smaller down to 0.5mm by scraping the base

    Problem no 2 :
    =========

When we were adjusting the throttle body on Saturday, we did not install the restrictive intake yet, thus the left and right cylinder bank is having the same airflow straight from the front.
After we install everything, the left cylinder bank temp drops compared to the right bank due to bad airflow in the carbon intake (180 degree U-turn for the left bank) while the right bank is somewhat better. This is basic design flaw of the LM and happens of the RHD model. On the LHD model it is vice versa, the right bank gets worse airflow compared to the left bank. If You own LHD LM002 You may want to check each one of Your header temp using infra red temp gun.
Thanks to the 12 EGT sensors, no guesswork on this one. This is just a matter of opening more air to the left bank.

If I want to get it correct, ditch the cooking pot air filter, use conical shape air filter on each end of the intake. Better airflow, power and throttle response. I think I've seen an LM modified like this somewhere on the internet. Should be good for daily driving. Sounds meaner too. Use the cooking pot only for car shows.

The trigger is already failing , the BMW crank sensor fails the same way , gradually

It needs a flow divider inside that air intake

Better use oval shape cone filters, place them horizontally, make a new fiberglass hood and cut a hole for Cold Air Intake.

I know this is a bit too extreme :) but it is just an idea

Tony, have You ever listened to the engine without the restrictive filter while opening the hood and manually opening the throttle with Your hands ? The sound is deafening. Agus can vouch for that.:)
The throttle response is also much much better.

The Countach and LM basically use the same engine thus the factory give the same 450 hp rating. I bet they did that only on the dyno. Once the engine is fully dressed in the LM I suspect the power drops 30-40 hp. The engine is literally suffocating.

I'm sure the intake is restrictive.

I wouldn't go cutting holes in the bonnet though.

We can work out a more elegant solution

That front bonnet lip doesn't have enough area for an air intake with an engine like this as a first impression , you would be better off making larger flush intake ports on the top of the bonnet

    Taffy:
We had the same problem that the km would not start after running. We replaced the ecu and strayer wires were frayed and ground wire was bad. Now lm runs and starts.
    We replaced original ecu's.

    Hope this helps.

Will send pictures of new seats, fuel lines, etc.

    Regards,
    Taz
