Hey guys, might sound stupid but the other day I took my cousin for a ride in my 328, hahaha - his 6'5" (1,95m) tall, boy I stayed quiet, the seat were all the way back and he was trying a layback poisition, haha his legs looked liked a Giraffe's but I stayed quiet..luckily I had the top stowed back home...

I realized these cars are really not meant for tall people say above 6'3" (around 1.9m)

I'm 5'10" (1.78m) and when I put the seat all the way back I'm barely able to putt the clutch down fully so a 6" feeter should still feel perfectly comfortable.

what do you guys think ?

    :)

I am 1.81 meter tall. In the "right" driving position my head "scratches" the lining of the roof (GTB). Needless to say I also love the looks/lines of the 308/328, but the "right" driving position ?? I (beïng of normal posture, 1.81 meter, 75 kilo bodyweight, arms and legs in "normal lenght" compared to torso (English can be a difficult language sometimes) can't find it !!!

    I'm 6' (1,84m) and 73 kgs.
I find my "natural driving position" easily in the GTB, but as said by Emile, the hair are somewhat close to the top, but I feel "at ease".
It is more difficult in the GTS with the top on, although the "Saratoga" top give you slightly more headroom than the OEM one (perhaps 1 cm); with the top on, it takes me a while, or a few kilometres, to feel comfy in the GTS.

1,93m 113 Kilo in SI units or 6'4" 250lb (not overweight though, weightlifter, so wide in the shoulders and that means I occupy some of the seat next to me. Let's be honest, I look like shrek stuffed into one). I Don't fit in the 308/328 esp the GTS, top of and my head pokes over the frame, actually I can see over the windshield. GTB requires sitting with head tilted to the side, not comfortable at all.

Sat in a gutted GTB, with no seat it's a tight fit and my head just brushes the roof -no liner-, actually removing the liner gets you 1" of room. One of my friends is 6'8" 325lbs, big ball player, took a ride in my Mondial, that was a fun afternoon! looked like a freaking clown car when we got out.

A bit over a year ago I bought my 328 GTS. I'm 6'-5"; so I had to make some changes, which I've written about before, but I'll do a very brief recap here. There is a way to make the 308/328 inhabitable for a tall person, and this is the way to do it: I designed what amounts to a 2-piece seat, connected by a pair of steel brackets that "jump" over the raised part of the floor at the rear bulkhead that the targa roof rests on when stowed behind the seats. The seats use the normal slide rails, and so can be adjusted fore & aft like the stock seats, but no rake angle adjustment is possible, as the backs are meant to be flush with the sloped rear bulkhead. Of curse the seats can be slid forward, allowing room for the targa panel, but again a tall driver's head would then project up slightly above the roofline, but as the targa panel is now behind the seats no problem. The new seats are of course also lower than the stock seats, as no springs and such were used, only sheet metal, 1/2" plywood and stiff foam padding on the bottoms. So even slid forward the new seats allow a tell driver's head to be lower than before. The new side bolsters are lower, so a "wider" driver doesn't feel pinched in the new seats, as was the case before. Less dense padding is used on the seat backs, for comfort. Aircraft grade leather was used, except for the seat backs, where matching vinyl (which isn't seen anyway) was used; a full 55 sq. ft. hide was used.
Other changes made included replacing the clock (which was relocated to a new panel under the radio), fitting a 2" steering wheel spacer (Hill Engineering), and replacing the rearward-vision impeding center stop light with a far smaller LED light unit that now barely projects into the upper part of the rear glass. The original fabric covered rear center stop light cover was the first to go, of course; serving as it did no other purpose than to block one's rearward vision! Of course that's not all I did (new red carpet, etc.) but that's another story.

The seats are comfortable (for a sports car, anyway) and make it possible for me to enjoy driving the beastie!

Sorry to repeat all this stuff but I'll take any chance I get to alert taller drivers to what can be done to make this fabulous car drivable for them! If anyone wants more detailed info just PM me. I'll give my phone # & we can chat.

    Cheers,
    Rich

It's all about where your height is. If it's in your legs, there is less of an issue. If it's in your trunk/neck, it can be a problem. I'm 6ft even and have no issue. I have had 5'10" people in the car whose head hit the roof. The PO was 6'6 and had no problem...go figure

I'm 6' 0" and 195 lbs, I lack a bit of head room on GTB, as I touch the roof wit my hair. GTS has half an inch more head room.

5' 11" and 13 stone. I fit great into the 308 GTS without having to have the seat all the way back. Never have the targa on so no problem with head touching roof :)

Interesting point, I've seen guys around 6'3" with short legs around like my own, big upper body length.

6'0" and 78kg. Fits just fine in my GTB with hair feeling the roof and my height is in my legs but not torso nor neck.

This is spot on. I'm 6'3 and cannot fit in a gtb without bending my neck.

Being only 5'2" I have had to alter the rail as the first couple of clicks were covered in a steel cover?, whilst the seat was out I made a couple of brackets out of the same size steel to again move it forward a bit more. Still find the clutch a stretch so I put a cushion behind me, nearly space behind me for a passenger!
I also struggle in a motorbike, could only get three toes down on my GXSR.

I'm 6' 1" and I seem to have plenty of head and leg room. My problem is that the top of the windshield is in my line of sight so I have to recline more that I normally would in another car.

I'm 6'4" (a lean build) and fit in my gtb, with about 10mm to spare.

I have the seat all the way back on the second last notch and reclined as far as the seat will go.

I'm 6'2", 200 pounds. The problem I had wasn't so much height, but my shoes. I wear size 12 US and the pedal configuration felt very clumsy. Then one day I was moving the car back in the garage from washing, my shoes were wet so I took them off so I wouldn't get the carpet wet. Yureka! The car fit like a glove. So now I always drive in my sock feet. I've tried driving shoes, too, but need to find something very thin, flexible and light- like a pair of socks!

Jeff, I kid you not.....the best driving shoes are those slip on ones for the beach. Light, thin, fit like a glove on feet, breathes, just the right amount of sole for flexing, come in many colours, Walmart $9.99.

6'1" and 200lbs and the car fits me like a glove, just perfect. Of course I prefer a reclined driving position so it works for me. I have a couple friends who like to sit straight upright (which is excruciatingly uncomfortable for me) and they insist they don't fit in the car. Funniest was a buddy who is 6'7" and mostly legs. He's ridden with me several times and says it's not too bad in the passenger seat, but he refused my offer to drive.

Definitely need a slim set of shoes to drive with. My favorite pair are Clarks loafers, fit great, slim, and the sole is just the right combination of flex/stiff for heel-toe.

I got a 1" steering wheel spacer and tilted the wheel up as far as it would go. Tilted the seat back a bit and moved the seat all the way to the rear. I wore medium width loafers (size 13) and like to drive in a slouched position. No problem with head room in the GTB. I'm 6'3" and 235 (not happy with that) and had no problem driving 3-4 hours or until the fuel ran out.
