MS and Brawn layed the foundation. if changing the driver was the only difference in wining and losing then I guess Ferrari will magically be second place this year.
In actual reality when Michael was driving the Mercedes the chassis was in its infancy which is proved by their results. Lewis's name does not automatically make a car faster and that is not a shot at Lewis because we all know he is a great driver so I hope my comment is not taken out of context. Sunday cannot get here fast enough, regards.
Lol, what does that Paddy Lowe guy know? Andreas, I enjoy your posts but I think it's sad you can't let your beef with MS go even after he is retired. What we now know, given that basically nothing separates Nico and LH, is that MS was extremely quick even at age 43. Simply amazing. Hope he gets better soon.
I think it's important to know that both Ross and MS laid down the foundation before moving on. MS's time with Merc, particularly in 2012 was plagued with bad luck, and the current rules, which bans testing, his stronghold, just went against him. If i were him, i would have stayed retired instead.
If you look back at ms with Ferrari in 1996. It took brawn n schu to 4 years to be at the forefront.. If only they were patient. But with financial n business these days, they want immediate results...
Understood, although I don't agree. But will you be consistent and say the same about Seb being the reason the Ferrari is faster this year now that he's replaced Alonso? Or do you only use that argument to try and shoot down Michael's accomplishments?
I disgaree. He came in too late to so call help with the car. This year's Ferrari, if it's fast and improvement from last year's car, is purely down to James Allison.
Good point...the car has been fast with both drivers from the minute pre season testing started. The trouble with tif12 is that he usually has an agenda, and will say whatever it takes to prove his point. When I say THE trouble, I don't mean to imply there's just one
Correct. Sebastian Vettel had exactly 0% due to anything with this car. The following year's cars groundwork is usually done with development by about mid season the previous year.
Or... as Alonso was leaving, maybe they gave greater weight to Raikkonen's feedback for developing this one. Engineers often talk about how good Raikkonen is at giving development feedback. All the best, Andrew.
+1 Last year he wrote kimi off so there's no way in hell that kimis input to James Alison has paid off...
Not zero and you know it. F1 cars are constantly developed. This years car was designed and built without Seb but most likely tailored to his driving style and he started giving his input after Dubai. Lots of changes and fine tuning already went into the car and will continue so throughout the year. If it wasn't like that then why bother with pre season testing. Just send your 3rd guy doing the function test. That said the big changes were due to all the new people at Ferrari. Just as MB changed a lot before Hami came. That's why I answered barbazza the way I did. Driver influence yes but the bigger input were the previous changes.
Can we please stick to the title of the thread. There are plenty of other 2015 F1 threads in this subsection that you guys can discuss Ferrari 2015 chances, FA vs. Kimi vs. SV. I haven't heard any news regarding MS's progress in the past few months. Any update?
Off topic, but i think it was on motorsports.com website, and Jules father said he don't know if Jules will ever wake up...
