Lets see what happens after the next service....I hoping all the issues will be resolved. As you know, I've never skimped on using the best parts or having the right people work on it during the car's tenure with me. I believe in redemption. I fell in love with the 308 since I was one as a 13 year old boy......or maybe you are correct and I'll need to let it go b/c my expectations are off point.

 

Rennie, flick it, if you "feel" like this I know that feeling, loved the QV but had this nagging feeling and when the 355 was offered I knew what I needed to do ............... still miss the beautiful shape and presence of the QV but it pales into insignificance when it gets replaced by the current acquisition

I don't think a clear wrap would have helped with that kind of heavy impact.

 

How did it whack it in 3 places ?

I think the 3M treatment would limit most of that, mine does a lot of track days (or did) and following fast cars with sticky tyres peppered my old QV (no film) but the 355 has been kept very good so far

 

I can sympathise. Typical, it's like having a new car.. Always happen. It happened to me on all my cars.

Very unlucky and I can sympathise, had similar happen after picking up my QV from a major service, drove it 3 kms from Marc's, picked up a 50mm T shaped piece of concrete reo which flicked up into the engine bay where it sliced through the aluminium waterpipe and lodged itself .

Luckily I had a spare pipe from my GT4 ..... I always seem to get the 1 in a million incidents like this

 

This also happened to the QV after I had sent it off to the smash repairers to get it ready for FNR 2009, on the way back from the repair shop a friggin cat ran out onto the road , swerved and braked to miss it but it was a BIG cat and it did this much damage, plus it broke the Carello main beam

I think so. Get it repainted and put some 3M clear film on it and it will be right then.

Congrats on the 456M. I think the longer you drive the more you'll sink deeply in awe. They are terrific in almost any conditions and I believe are a true classic - their lines are sophisticated, perfectly understated, but a Ferrari thru and thru. Find yourself the custom Schedoni luggage and you've got a true tourer

There are a few things to sort. Double check your window regulator particularly on the driver side - a common issue. You'll notice that the window won't seal properly to the rubber liner if it's had its day. F1 imports in Florida has a permanent fix (ship them the regulator and they replace the aluminum pin with steel.). Someone down under may be doing same.

Headlight actuator is also a common problem - there are several on ebay right now if need replace. I need to do same. You can also remove it, and try to relube the mechanism - hear that works.

Not sure if you sorted your tire issue, but one thing you can consider is going with larger rims. This both helps modernize her look, adds considerable stability and can add a more aggressive stance which helps further make the 456 a wolf in sheeps clothing (really my favorite thing about them - at a cruise, all the 911 boys are snickering because they know she weighs 4000lbs and think I'll be lost. But then they can't shake me. God love the V12 and her cornering abilities).

Now I have an extreme example of this on my Grigio Ingrid over Dark Blu 3 pedal, with Novitec NF2's loaded and 345/30/19's on the rears. Requires a 25mm spacer in the rear. Obscene I know (and if you're a purist, can stop reading here. Many have also put on the 18 or 19" Maranello rims and those look incredible too. Amoung others. Search this site and you'll find a ton of visuals. If interested and if still in need of rubber, this could be an option.
