Magnetic Spaghetti ignition sensor SEN8D now sits perfectly with 0.5mm gap. Car starts everytime even when the engine is hot.

Today I am happy to receive 4 items :

    4. 100feet/30meters long red moroso ignition wires. Well, I already have a new blue ignition cable, so I guess this one is for spare / for my other car.

Saturday engine driveability test drive (well, I was the passenger most of the time).
    Nice weather not too hot.

Still have problem with hot engine start, a bit temperamental even AFTER we change the Marelli sensor SEN8D. Sometimes the home sensor will not read the crank revolution after engine temp is over 95 deg (after 10 mins drive). Will have to solve that puzzle later.

I think it's a component design flaw in the crank sensor, it doesn't like heat in my opinion.

We have extremes of radiated heat from the road. 45 to 50 deg C which particularly effects cooling systems and electrical components.

This problem probably won't affect normal and cold climate cars (90% of the rest of the World where LMs live).

A first test will be to see what the electrical resistance is when the engine is cold and then the resistance when it fails.

If the ohms are different there's either a breakdown of the insulation or there's a crack somewhere which is expanding in the heat and disconnecting the signal from the ECU.

If the sensor tests normal then it's a wiring problem.

Is the sensor connected directly to the ECU or is it going via the amplifier box on top of the engine (also a hot spot) ?

We did some test run again on Saturday afternoon.
Two laps around Jakarta inner ring road.
49 km /30 miles per lap with no major problems (followed by another SUV with tools and mechanics though)

This is quite an achievement, better than FF4 where the LM only drove for 1 minute with and had to be followed by two SUVs :p
