I think it is RHD #1120260 The following pics seem to have been taken at the same place (inside & outside). Probably in Australia... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Same car. The outside pics are taken at an old heritage building in Brighton, Melbourne, while the indoor pics are taken during Motorclassica at the old Royal Melbourne Exhibition building.
This car's interior was the subject of some conjecture, and this image clearly shows that the interior is not original. Even though the image is not a high-resolution one, you can see that the stitching of the seats and the carpeting is post-production. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thank you for this precision! Thanks Joe for pointing this out. I think this is the same LP400 #1120260, pictured in 1982-1983, with (its original??) Tobacco interior... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice story for this Countach. I love the "grand tour of Europe", putting some miles on it before being shipped to Australia.
In the auction blurb it says...."got word of the imminent release of the 400s". In November 1976? I thought the 400s wasn't available until 1978....
It was quite common for owners to drove out of the factory in their new Countach on EE plates. In fact, some USA owners did this as well, before eventually shipping the car to the USA. Agreed, it was always nice to hear the stories of epic first impressions!
Once Walter Wolf took delivery of his "S"-modified LP400 cars (1120148 & 1120202) in 1976 on, there was a 'buzz' in the press about an imminent LP400S production car, which unfortunately didn't materialize till late 1978.
Here's a silver LP400 that was for sale last year in Paris... I have never seen this car before! When I tried to contact the seller, the car was already gone. 88'000 Kms, 3 owners... and said to have been built in 1974 (!!!) The leather interior is described as 'Fauve' that could mean Tan or Beige or Tobacco. Note the clear front blinker lights, the silver-painted NACAs, the Bertone logos standing a little higher than usual, and the thin red stripe all around the upper edges of the car! Does anybody here know something about this rare LP400? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
it is still not sold ? the seller is a very difficult person, he always changes his mind, not very reliable... like if the car is not belonging to him
I found this offer last summer when I went back to France. But the offer didn't stay very long on the Internet... I don't know if it was sold eventually. Do you know something about this LP400, Olivier ? Your help would be very much appreciated!!
I have only exchanged few emails with him, but nothing came up really, he was very "bizarre"... interior is original "senape" and yes the lateral NACA ducts are silver painted instead of black
Merci ! Ahah! I also had a strange feeling about that guy... Some people just can't let it go! I wish I could know more about it still... Mostly to know if it really is one of the early 1974 LP400.
Agreed Olivier, some people really do not help themselves when they want to sell a motorcar! That said, for me, the 88,000km, the Bertone badges askew, the painted NACA ducts and the pin-striping all say: repaint. Perhaps there is a story with this car, and the Seller is/was looking for the 'right' kind of buyer! This would explain the odd behavior...
yes it is repainted, Argento is not original color, but the interior is still well, as far as I understood, he wants a real collector that will pay the price of a speculator...
Hi everyone, I have trouble with my Countach when there is a lot of sun. Indeed, there are no sun visors and even though I wear sunglasses, it is very annoying. Did anybody find a solution? I wonder if some sucking pad sun visors exist? Thanks a lot for any help!
I know most will laugh BUT I have see baby/child tint that will cling onto the window to protect the child. Maybe something like that cut into shape. The brighter the sun, the better the sticking. There is no adhesive.
Unfortunately they are not street legal in Switzerland... Great shot by the way! Did Paul Frère make an article on the 25th?
