Well, not absolutely correct.
They were available from February 1986 onwards.

 

I remember I've seen this ad' from Alpine (Japan-based company) featuring a mysterious White RHD LP400 converted to S-specs...

After some research, and thanks to a great friend from Japan, the car is most probably #1120264, imported in Japan during the late-70's and seen Yellow with Tobacco interior.
It is not 100% sure to be the original color when it came to Japan (probably yes but not confirmed yet). Also not confirmed: if Japan was its first destination.

Later on, #1120264 has been converted to LP400S and repainted full-white during the early 80's in Kyoto.
During the late 90's, the car was spotted in Hiroshima, still wearing its LP400S guise.
Then, someone bought #1120264 and restored it to LP400 specs.

The green LP400 in the last photo is #1120264 nowadays.

Hi everyone,

It maybe has already been posted in this huge thread but I wanted to share this article that I just bought. Following the finding of the issue featuring a comprehensive test of my Espada, I kind of fell in love with how "Ruoteclassiche" are doing their reviews, with real tests performed with the same modern equipment as in "Quattroruote".

So, I subscribed to the magazine ant tried to find as many interesting past issues as possible.

The first I received concerns the LP400.

And, wow, I am impressed by the results on a test performed 25 years afte the production of the car. Vmax of 299.2 km/h, very very impressive. Very interesting to see the real weight of those cars fully ladden for a test drive.

I also enclose a picture of my Espada filled with the same testing material.

I am looking forward to reading the rest of the article tonight!

Those are extremely impressive results! Id love to see them test a later Qv and a Testarossa.

 

Does anyone know anything about the black Apine poster Countach here in Hawaii? I've been told from a few people that it's here, but yet to have seen it! I have a hunch about who owns it. He may be a member here, I believe he also owns an Mc12 and some other cars. Would love to hear more details of e car if anyone knows!

Awesome! Thank you! I didn't know it was an LP400. If I'm not mistaken, I believe he also owns the white Miura that JN Exotics here had as well? That car was Beautiful! I wish your friend would bring it out to cars and coffee here or some of the car festivals!

Hi there.

It has been discussed already about the roof slits on the LP400.

I remember #1120002 & #1120004 have 6 slits on their roof, #1120006 has 5 of them... while the green #1120008 has only 4 slits! (see first photo)

Therefore, how could the green LP400 from the famous photo/poster (see second photo) have 5 slits?

Could it be the previous owner of '0008, who once tried to make it look like the Production Prototype '0001, that would have gone this far as to remove one slit on both slits sets?
(I hardly believe that of course, but who knows...)

Or, could the green LP400 from the poster, in fact, simply be #1120010 that seems to have been green originally ? (see last photo)
