this is the last picture you will see with that car in red: i will go for the original "Blu sera metallizato" full repaint. Hope it will be good looking ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login
just taken yesterday this video of the engine idling. next video will be of a "Blu Sera" car... ciao http://youtu.be/pzQOcimbvkg
Let me start by stating that I'm not an originality geek. I'm just a geek. That said, how are our dry sump reservoir vent lines supposed to be routed? I've seen them both ways. Compare pic below with the one above. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Your picture shows, how it's in the spare parts book. And so is mine. Technically I can see no point, that matters. Best Regards Martin Image Unavailable, Please Login
The car is original, no wrong pieces: Toni Auto knows how it has to be, even a later carbed car like that. The car has been already inspected by a Ferrari Classiche expert and the only thing that came out are that the spark plugs wires had to be black on that car, not red: I will change them. I will keep as non original just the four tips exhaust as I like it much more that than the single tip factory exhaust and then it's a very common mod done 30+ years ago so it's historycal correct too. I will fit the car with the deep front spoiler (an official Ferrari option) but i will keep the OEM slim one too. 100% "originale". ciao
Alberto, What I saw on your rear view picture; the cutout for the original single pipe exhaust is also removed like on my car. On most carb cars with four pipe exhaust, hardly anyone went through the effort of removing this cutout. Regarding the colour of the ignition wires; Could you obtain a set of black ones, or do Ou plan to make them yourself ? I ask, because for the later cars with electronic ignition, it's important, that the wires have the correct resistance. Otherwise they can damage the amplifiers. Means no zero resistance copper cables. Therefore I have now a set of red cables. Since in the sales brochures there are engine pictures with red wires, I don't care too much. Best Regards Marrin
Correct, but i consider it as part of the four tips exhaust change. I think i can find the black spark plugs wires: I will let you know how much they cost. Thank you very much for the info. ciao
So how long do you think that paint will last on the engine? any idea of the type and heat range? Or did they powder coat everything?
I already did 200 km: no problem at the paint. It's a 350 ° C proof paint and the same paint they put on much more expensive Ferrari 250 engines. Toni Auto is not an unwarranty "Do it yourserf" private, they are professionals and know what they do. They work for Classiche too. But thank you very much for the advice: I will keep the paint checked every now and then, expecially around the exhaust ports and manifold. If the paint cannot stand a temperature level, the first time you cross that level it will strip off: i think i already reached the working temperature and I did not see any damage to the paint around the exhaust manifold. Once another mechanic put a stantard paint on the exhaust manifold of my Countach: the first time I started the engine it burned immediately, after 3-4 minutes. Then it was replaced with the correct 800°C paint and no problem even after 1 hour on the dyno test bench. ciao
But Alberto, you said, that you want to have the car 100% original except exhaust. Regarding this statement, I don't dare to say, what's in my mind regarding the painted engine Best Regards Martin
I hate you... Perfection doesn't exhist. Even my 348 time capsule with 2000 km has some imperfections... I will do my best, that doesn't mean perfection. ciao
just taken: no damage, that means good heat resistant paint! ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Alberto: Is that Blue Sera or Dino? I thought you said Sera at some point, but some pics look Dino-ish... Just curious.
Unfortunately it's blu sera. It comes from factory Classiche service: Blu sera, Salchi paint. They told me the story of that car: It was the last but two carbed cars. To close the line they painted the chassis and body panels, awaiting for a customer. For chassis 34465 they choose the red color. But then there was an unexpected request from Crepaldi of a blu sera carbed GTB. So the red paint was stripped off and painted again, in blu sera. 34465 leaved the factory in blu sera and was delivered January 7, 1981, to Crepaldi dealership in Milano. And this is not everything: there is an even more incredible story about the engine. I will tell you another time. Ciao
we are going on: you can see the junction line with the redone lower part of the door (done 10 years ago more or less). It was blu sera everywhere, no doubt about it. The stripping process is hard and long (and very expensive...) ciao Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
