Quick question - during the spring inspection this week, noticed that in the last year my rads are starting to lose some of their fins. Pics below.

The rads aren't leaking at all, and I haven't noticed any issue in engine running, temp, coolant loss etc. I'd guess the lost fins might be impacting the cooling slightly, but nothing that I can notice and everything is in safe operating range.

Do people think I'm ok to leave them as is, monitor them and make it an item for next spring's annual maintenance? Or is it time to change right away?

    Thanks in advance.

Don't know if they should be replaced or not but either way I think making sure your temp gauge and ecu coolant temp sensor are reading correctly would be prudent.

Use an OBD2 tool like Kiwi Wifi to check the ECU temp sensor and compare to the gauge in the dash.

Great thanks for the input. I have an OBDII tool and will give it a go.

the fins are corroding away, it may not be leaking but it wont be as efficient at cooling if they are blocking the airs path.

Seen it before you could wait and see if they spring a leak, or replace them. Replacement can be new custom made ones to just picking up some used ones.

Plenty of 355s are still getting parted out. Especially in your neck of the woods.

A good replacement source are Saldana all-aluminium rads. Euroquipe in Illinois is the only retailer I believe.

They're about 900$ a piece, much better than spending 1100$ on the plastic OEM ones.

    +1

Cuneo has them. When mine are up in the future, I will be going that route.

Ah sorry man, I knew I had seen that somewhere....I kept thinking it was a company, my apologies.

So you're an official retailer of Saldana or do you sell another aluminium rad? Are you affiliated with Euroquipe at all or separate?

Need to know because I have lots of friends with 355s and the OEM rads are gonna go soon. I'm actually surprised they lasted this long considering how flimsy they look.

I bought both my aluminium rads at Euroquipe and both of mine are changed.

Thanks for all of the input. I'm going to keep my eye on them and keep driving while I look into options including the aluminium option. I had her out on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning and no problems. I'd be more concerned if I lived somewhere warm...

I stopped in and spoke with a good indie near me on Saturday, and based on the quote he gave me the OEM part prices have come down to the point where the pricing for new rads are around the same as the reconditioned ones I've seen (about £420-450 including VAT), at least in the UK.

No, sorry I should have been more clear. I'm just a 355 owner who has them installed on my car, not a dealer or distributor of any car parts whatsoever.

Glad to hear you have them on your car, they're beautiful pieces and a shame we can't see them when installed.
