Prices have jumped $100K on the roadsters? What are 6.0's getting?

I think 6.0 (non SE) transactions (not list) probably straddle $270-$330K? That is my current impression.

It seems like roadsters and late model (99+) cars have basically doubled in value in the last 12 months. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if in a few years prices haven't doubled again. After that if they are still rocketing I would be impressed.

Frankly I don't see selling mine for less than the 1999 door sticker. I think these cars are worth their non-inflation adjusted sticker price today and thus I still feel they are undervalued by say 30-50%. One day they will be worth their inflation-adjusted price (think today's Aventador coupe cost new). One day way out in the future they will beat inflation.

I still say 99+ model Diablo should be worth more than an Anniversary Countach. :D

The prices are getting ridiculous across the board. Did everyone suddenly hit the lotto?

Since that yellow "no miles" VT Roadster just sold for $500K, all the rest are that as of now minus the condition and mileage depreciation.
Given that there's only 212 US Roadsters made, miles won't matter soon.
....does anyone care what the mileage is on a Ferrari Daytona?

2800 made, I suspect a good number written off or in shambles. Iconic styling. 2-seat mid-mounted V12 500hp manual gearbox. Just this side of raw compared to Countach.

The late model cars, and the roadsters, are very rare (in addition to the rare SE 30/SE/GT cars).

Based on some research only 23 1999 VT coupes brought into the USA. < 50 1999 roadsters. < 50 1999 SVs. The 6.0 also fairly rare. In rarity terms the late model cars and roadsters are where it is at besides special editions.

Think about where vintage 911s are in pricing terms. I would say the aircooled 911 market is the most dubious right now in terms of general valuations. Countach prices I would think are settling down and will creep up slowly from here. Diablo more to move.

    Just my biased .02

Like I've said before. .........what else is there to put your money into? The upper end is awash in cash. The market is close to valuation, dividends are at 2-4%, a continued low rate environment and housing still stumbling along. Cars of distinction and rare art is where people are puting their money and the valuation is reflected in the demand.
I always joked that when I bought one of my last rentals in 07 I said forget the investment , I should go buy another Lamborghini instead.
Haha......who knew it would have been the wiser decision lol ;)

There's nothing NOT to like about a Diablo. .....especially a Roadster lol ( no bias there ;) )

But why not cash out if you wish. Just don't ever expect to get back in the Diablo game at that selling point.
I don't have a link to the 500k Roadster but it's here somewhere on this thread. I had asked what ever happened to it and was told it sold in one day.

The funny thing is that I'm having the "flip side" problems...insurance issues. I'm with state farm and i already have an agreed in writing payout of 220k plus 10k for wing addendum. They won't increase the value and the collector car insurance companies want a mileage per year cap. My car is a daily driver and I bought it for this purpose. If something happens, I can't get back into a Diablo as the sale values and the book values have a huge gap.

Values seem to be appreciating at a surprising rate.

The first lotto winner that offers me north of $200k will be the proud new owner of a '98 Diablo SV Monterey Edition #3 of 20.

This I doubt.....as far as I know there were 132-ish '99s made, including the MOMOs and Milleniums.

So if the US received 2/3 of the allotment (which is still pretty high considering the world economy was quite strong) that would be 88 cars.

The USA numbers are not a guess. They are what Lamborghini reported in March 2002 to the US Feds. And even approximated numbers like Lamborghini production, how many units per model - the STORY on LamboCARS.com you get 142 total for the world.

OK, I thought there were 20 Millemium cars, not 30 as your link indicates.

But NOWHERE does your link indicate how many came to the US.

Using your numbers, 111/142 = 78% were shipped here...which is WAY off what most of us consder the norm.

As an example, look at the 6.0.....that % is 150/416 (using your USA number) = 36%

So the roadster numbers don't pass the logic test

Dont see what you could replace that car with for $200k that would be as beautiful as that.

Agreed, the only thing I can think of is a heavy depreciating 458.....but at some point if I have a car worth my mortgage I'll have to sell.

I w had 2 diablos in the last 15 years ,the first one (91)and the last, the 01 was a fantastic daily driver, but did develop some major mecanical issues over some time, synchro rings (my lambo dealer told me its a thing to watc out for in the later cars)in the tranny, electrical corrosion issues and so on,but like i said a absolutly delight to drive,my 91 was raw and brutal and old enough for a guy like me with mecanical skills to do my ovn work and service, the 01 was venturing in to computer box fault sensor type of
car, wich i am not set up for. If i was to do it again, i would get another 91,i actually wish i never would have sold it, it did have crappy build quality, but after some time and effort,it turned out great, never let me down , undervalued, big time,if one crosses anybodys path, buy it.

    +1

The pre 6.0 still can be worked on in your garage. The 91 uses obd I and was not interface friendly like the obd II cars. With obd II, you can download codes, diagnose and erase unlike the 91 -93 cars. Electrical issues can be fixed with high end audio contact cleaner and treatment.
You mention the synchros. This is exactly why George Evans of Evans automotive told me to remove the VT drive as it puts too much stress on the transmission. I have mine removed and set up to the SV specs and with SV axles and bottom plate. You can easily reverse it back to the vt set up with just bolting it back on.
I did like the vt setup as it was really great in heavy Florida rain...even though it felt clunky. The car feels so much better without it as the revs are faster and the car feels way more agile.

BIN $199k......40k miles and who knows what else lurks in it's history.

Roy has a new toy listed too, 249k '99 15k roadster

These prices seem more "reasonable"?? and much lower than discussed above.

So there's the difference in 99 Roadsters from 500k at 1500 miles to 250k at 15000 miles. Sooo......you paid $250k for taking away 13500 miles lol.
