Decided to make a thread to give updates on my build. I plan to just post everything on here, from the planning stage to completion. Hope you guys enjoy!

Yesterday I spent a almost six hours at the Ferrari dealer going through countless color combinations. For me, I had a few items that I felt were a "must have" for the Aperta. One being the "whale" stripe that was shown on the show car. The stripe is only available on the Aperta and I wanted to definitely include that stripe, not another racing stripe. Combining this stripe with certain paint colors was difficult just because the tail of the stripe is HUGE.

In the beginning I was set on some sort of blue, specifically an opaco(matte) Blu Pozzi with a yellow stripe. Looking at a blu pozzi F12 the dealer had in stock, I decided that it was too dark and would look almost black in opaco. So I decided to see what the lighter Tour de France Blu will look like with a yellow stripe. The car came out horrid on the Configurator and I was shocked. It looked cheap IMO. Being almost set on a blue car I tried endless combinations and almost two hours seeing what stripe would work best. Red came out looking the most pleasing but I was not sold.

After a little breather I came back to the drawing board and decided to look at other color options. White was an option but I wanted to do something different. I ended up building a car in Grigio Silverstone Opaco with yellow accents and feel that I have a winner! Who knew picking colors would be so difficult! I will most likely get blue on the 488 without a complicated stripe :)

Both look very nice but for some reason and in my humble opinion the grey just pops and looks unique.

I agree if those are the two choices. I prefer the grey one.

The grey with those wheels and the yellow really looks great.

Not a fan of any opaco paint - I know it's in style now - would choose either color in standard metallic finish w/ clearcoat. Just MHO...

Congrats! Did they send you a picture of the car after it was completed before testing? I would be curious to see how amazing she looks!

I am currently now debating doing Grigio Silverstone Opaco with the special Verde Kers-Lucido color stripe :0

What do you guys think? Instead of the yellow stripe?

That might look good. Would you add the colour to the calipers too?

Love the color combo, only thing I would change personally would make the wheels either black or grey not polished. Maybe its the configurator, which I agree with you..is horrible for this level of experience.

Enjoy, the car is gonna be amazing, keep posting the updates.

Regardless of how I would do a Speciale A ( apparently 7 transactions with my dealer wasn't enough to secure one) I would pose the following question to "help" you answer yours. With the blue/red car the red 3D fabric on seats matched the stripe/brakes. With grey/yellow car, the 3D fabric matched the stripe and brakes as well. I am unaware of 3D fabric being available in green in standard guise. If you can't get Tailor Made or extracampanario option to do brakes and seats in matching color would it change your mind about stripe color?

Yep! Would like to do accents of the exterior as well as interior in green :)

Exactly, my dealer has contacted Ferrari today to see if they are able to do that. I would want the accents to match in green. Meaning that everything from the stripe, brake calipers, to the stitching and 3D fabric in green.

Hopefully they are able to do it, I know everything should be easy to make in green, maybe sans 3D fabric... If they can do the 3D fabric in green I will go with that spec, if not I will most likely go with yellow.

I really like the Grigio Silverstone Opaco matte paint option you chose. I have a Grigio Opaco Speciale that's just hit production stage 85.

Also, just an FYI - although you can add a non-matte livery stripe on a matte colored car on the Ferrari configurator, Ferrari won't except it unless that livery stripe is matte as well. As such, I chose to have my Speciale without the livery stripe, as I only would have wanted it in a gloss finish.

WOW! Your car looks fantastic, congrats on it!

Yes, my dealer told me that if I choose the Opaco paint that the strip has to be in Opaco or I could choose to have the outer portion of the stripe in gloss and the inner portion in Opaco(explained better in attached pic.) But I am not sure how true that second option is. They are still in contact with Ferrari to see if they can do the green interior.

I personally do not mind if my car was all in Opaco, including the stripe. But I think it would look BAF with Opaco-Gloss-Opaco. :)

Are we talking green interior as stitching and belts ? Or something crazy like FLU did in blue ?

If you do a search on Google for "458 verde Kers lucido", you'll find quite a few pictures in which you can see things like green calipers, green stitching.
    Like that

I got to admit, green stripes seems kinda cool, and for sure unique :)

When I mean green interior I mean like everything in attached picture that is yellow, green. So from seat belts, to stitching to green mesh. I think it will look bad AF!
