Great friend to have. Does he also make speeding tickets go away? That's a sandwich with a lot of perks! Kind regards, Nuno.
LOL, maybe! For now I'll have to rely on an attorney I have who calls the prosecutor & gets me knocked down to traffic school and zero points. Haven't had to use that one in a while though, my record is actually clean! Though I doubt 'street racing a Ferrari' would win me any leniency!
But actually a great thing, and left me with a great feeling. Drove my Mondial (yes a lowly Mondial) the other day, and had to stop for gas. While fueling, a guy pulls up on the other side of the pump, and notices my car. He grabs his 18YO son and comes over to talk about cars. What resulted was a 30 minute discussion about cars, growing up, father son relationships, etc. His 18YO asked if he could sit in the car! Of course I let him. I could see the same spark in that kid, that I recognized in myself at that age, and also saw in my own son when he was 18. This is what classic car ownership is all about (to me anyway). Not about being snobbish, not about being elite (although I doubt anyone has ever called a Mondial owner "elite or snobbish"). It's about the camaraderie of car people. What a great way to spend part of an otherwise normal evening. Talking cars! Nurturing the next generation. There was a thread on here a couple of days ago about young people no longer caring about cars. This experience tells me that at least some young people are still excited about cars. sid
I purchased a 458 spider on April fools day , so a lady today asked me if my car was a Corvette. Oh well. Funny thing is that never happened with my 430 spider.
parked the 328 far away from other cars at ******'s sporting goods store. I come back to the car and a goober is telling his girlfriend "Anyone can pick one of those up for $ 25,000"
There's always at least one chode in every bunch. Tell him that I will buy every single nice one of those that he can find for $25,000. On another note, at a recent cars and coffee I overheard some guy explaining to his girlfriend that my 550 is the first 4WD Ferrari ever made and it's really good in the snow.
This weekend the 328 was parked by itself at a rest area turnout. A family of 5 walks buy with 2 little boys 7-9 year olds. "Look a Ferrari!" Boy 1 "That's a Ferrari!" Boy 2 "It's an old Ferrari" Boy 2 "No that's not old it's called a classic!" Boy 1 "It's a Classic Ferrari!" Boy 2
When I was leaving the PV car show last time a guy say in his late thirty's or early forties was walking with two young kids, he yells at me.......You should of invested in a homeless shelter.
They'd think twice before doing that in Texas..... I have gotten hate from causeheads over MPG of all of my vehicles. My point is always "My husband and I contribute to the environment by NOT having kids, and since people are the main source of environmental destruction, we're doing more than you." I hate when people try to tell me how to spend my own money. Let them work as hard as I do and then they can have an opinion. At the bank the other day, a crowd was looking at my car (360 Spider). One old guy asked my husband "What kind of mileage does it get?" The bank manager yells "Who cares? That's what kind." I had to laugh, and then had to Google the gas mileage. It's just not the sort of thing you ask yourself before you buy high performance vehicles.
My cars forty years old. How many cars have you sent to the landfill in that time? Blue, it's the new green.
Ran into a lady friend of ours at Starbucks today. The spider was parked in front. She asked if she could look at the car. I said sure, do you want to go for a ride? After the ride she beamed: this has been the best day of my life! I love the joy Fcars bring.
