I was at a preview of the 570S on the weekend.

Actually I have both a Ferrari 458 Spider (+ FF) and a McLaren 650S Spider (+ P1). The Ferrari is beautiful 'look-at-me' Rossa Corsa but the McLaren is subdued Pearl White. The McLaren gets every bit as much notice on the road as the Ferrari, maybe even a little more because the first thing people ask is "what is that?" then they say how gorgeous is it. The 650S, in my opinion, is handsome but more understand than the 458. The 570S however is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. It really stands out. There are a ton of very cool design elements and it really looks like a sexy supercar compared to prior McLarens.

In my opinion the 570S is prettier than my 458 Spider and the updated 488. The interior is also completely restyled from the earlier McLarens and looks absolutely beautiful. You could look at the interior and think it was designed by Ferrari or Audi. It's really, really nice. The attention to detail, the materials, the stitching, the seat designs, the fully digital dash all come together very nicely. Also the new carbon fiber chassis for the 570S has sloping side sills such that you really don't have to climb over them any more to get it. Also the doors open slightly differently to the 650S. They're still "dihedral" but they open a few inches further forward the front of the car making them almost like scissor doors but, combined with the low sills, make ingress and egress no more difficult than a Ferrari 458 and in some cases easier because the doors get right out of the way of your feet and body. Another new thing for a McLaren - the doors close beautifully with a soft touch which isn't easy to pull off on doors that open like McLarens do.

But the exterior styling is truly exciting. I can see elements from the P1 in its design but this car looks like a really coherent bespoke-designed car. The rear deck swoops beautifully over the engine down and back up again to form the rear lip spoiler. There's no wing like other McLarens because they very subtle flying buttresses, aggressive rear diffuser and rear deck lid combine to give enough downforce. The rear end looks great. This is the first McLaren with low-down exhaust and apparently the extra travel length of the exhaust gives it a really enhanced sound. We didn't hear the car start up but they played the audio for it over some speakers and it sounded great. The details in the design are really impressive. The rear glass is concave in shape which looks amazing, the engine is exposed under a grill, the rear deck swoops, the front end us nicely aggressive, the rear end is powerful looking. It's just so beautiful! It's not what I would have expected for a McLaren in this price range. I own a P1, and I love it's design, but I think the 570S is an even better looking car.

I think the car is going to be a huge hit. McLaren are growing their dealer network a lot in the USA and this car will bring even more dealer interest. 0-60 mph time is 3.1 seconds (3.2 to 100 km/h) and they told me it's faster than a Turbo S to 100 mph and I'd put it faster than a Lamborghini Hurracan as well. It's faster than the very first MP4-12C (650S is still faster at 2.9 0-60) which is pretty awesome considering it's going to be priced against a Porsche Turbo S (just under US$200K).

As far as I can see the 650S appears to be the only true supercar (looks, performance, exclusivity) in it's price segment. They'll be making them in smaller numbers compared to Turbo S (Porsche made over 30,000 911s last year!) but pretty decent numbers for McLaren. Their overall goal is to get to 4,000 units per year among all models which means probably just under 2,000 of these a year. I think the demand for this car will be pretty high and I'm going to buy one for myself.

As much as I respect McLaren for creating nice Ferrari competitors in such little time I still think that current models have less soul and are less beautiful. Your story about the 570 made me very curious, let's wait :)

Thank for your insight! There are two guys who have seen it personally and they love it(event though they are biased McLaren owners). Why not wait to see it before you give an opinion?

Why would I be biased? I have very mixed feelings about it. It is gorgeous, but it will further bring down the value of my 12C Spider.

does new one have hydraulic suspension?
if not, then 12c is still worth a premium to customers who want comfort
but if it does and its under $200k, well then you might have issues

They say the Suspension is Adaptive, but not Magnetic. They say that the Performance and Handling adjustments are somewhat limited compared to the 12C and 650S.
I would like to see one without the Carbon, which is their Porsche competitor.

i would rank hydraulic, magnetic, adaptive in that order for most comfort to least. so the 12c would still have that advantage over new one

He's got something covering the lower part of the lens. It's nice when someone is invited to a special Event and they refuse to follow the rules. We all would have liked to take pictures.

McLaren keeps saying they are expanding their dealer network .... they've said that for 3 years now. How come dealers don't fight to sign up? lol

it looks good. exotic and radical as opposed to german Porsche turbo and audi r8 understated.

its a winner as long as its priced right with the germans and well under 488

You're in the McLaren sub forum. What would you have us talk about, ye God of online car forums? Please enlighten us all or go about your regularly scheduled ****y activities and shut up.

This is a forum to allow people to discuss things INCLUDING SPECULATION.

And guess what? The pics on page 3 confirm my thoughts. Looks like another 650/P1 derivative and not as those two posters made me imagine. I'm not a McLaren hater either. The F1 LM is by far my favorite car ever and I like to see their team succeed in F1.

I say the car is gorgeous in person and hear fanboy. I can't tell if you're really this stupid or just this big an ass. Probably just a good mix of both.
