Just looked at the Motortrend Video. They did more than everything to give the P1 a fair chance. Somehow Porsche just knows to make a car work better on a track. Chris Harris in Portugal proved beyond doubt that the Trofeo is the superior rubber. So it was not for lack of trying. Amazing how even the Trofeos flex away from the rim in the corners and under acceleration. Brilliant. But as Carlos Lago said you cannot reduce the comparison to the time difference. The P1 ist just an pure drivers car. They way it accelerates and they way you can fling it around a track is pure adrenalin. Will be interesting to see what happens on a track like Spa where one is often well over the 265 Kmh where the front emoter of the Porsche cuts out and the P1 can also bring its downforce into play. Certainly a great test of two brilliant cars.

It seems you misunderstand my point of view! As I said about LaFerrari very good figures! all I said was about R&T 918 test, if you compare it against Car & Driver test then you will understand what I mean, Car and Driver finds 918 non Weissach clearly faster than Veyron till 180 MPH and this is %100 true! as many Legit Magazines confirmed, But BUT R&T said a 918 0-60MPH is equal to Veyron and this is not true, As all experts know that 918 is faster! Remember Porsche 918 is the only of 3 with no need any excuses, It achieved all specials! Ring Record Holder is a dream for any hyper cars in the world! plus several Lap records in different circuits! and unlike Ferrari and Mclaren, Porsche AG is the only of the 3 they always ready to giving a 918 Weissach or Non-Weissach to any Car Magazines around the world! Yes Porsche is Reliable!
The Trofeo R which is supposed to be a "standard option" for the P1 doesn't even come in the right size for the P1.
Yup, can't you see how "tailored" these undersized Trofeo R tire is for the P1? It must be a "new thing" where the smaller the tire, the better it grips. LOL!!!
Actually I think it is Carlos Lago with MotorTrend. R&T does not usually publish videos and Mr. Lago tweeted some pics from Maranello. Anywho...seems all the major US mags are there testing the car.
Out of topic but how does anybody think the veyron will fare in say 25 years value-wise compared to these 3, in particular the Laf? Less or more?
That's a tricky one because so far, the Veyron has depreciated quite badly. Also, the biggest problem with the Veyron is that its new successor is coming out next year with over 1500hp, so it's not going to help the value of the Veyron. One of the reasons why the 3 hybrid hypercars are doing so well is because everyone knows there won't be any true successors coming soon for another 10 years or so.
Yes, sales haven't been rocketing but that didn't stop the F1 for example from appreciating quite a lot recently. Will the Veyron be seen as just a big VW or as a worthy come back of the brand? I would measure its success against the LaF's one. Similar price, similar numbers. Which one will be worth more in 25 years? If you could choose one as investment, which one?
The F1 has rocketed because of its low production numbers, iconic seating position, brilliant engine and it's fantastic racing heritage. Lack of racing heritage has been an issue for two brilliant cars, the F50 and the CGT. However collectors are realizing what great cars they actually are. They both will probably appreciate significantly. Veyron was a milestone achievement. It's a drag racer you can drive in comfort to the office. Beautifully made in low numbers. It will have its fans, keeping in mind the maintenance costs are pretty heavy. Whilst I agree that the LF and 918 will be replaced after about 10 years from announcement, there may be a LF Spyder? (Like the Maserati based Enzo) with the P1 I am not so sure. McLaren seems to be bringing new models all the time? Hopefully no P1 type car soon as it dilutes the P1 as a very special machine. Time will tell.
Biggest problem i see for the Veyron is the maintenance cost. Even if you can afford a $1m car (which is around the price of a nice used one, not talking about the GS/Vitesse or SS), it doesnt mean you are ok with the ridiculous running costs. I think they are 'cheap' at $1m for what they are. Esp when a Dino is $500k or a new Aventador is close to $500k but then you really need deep pockets to run it or it will just stay parked.
Forget running costs and current price, which one between a LaF and a Veyron will be worth more in 25 years? I start to believe the Veyron will be more expensive. There are 5 hyper Ferraris already while VW or not, the Veyron is the first Bugatti in a long time. Of course much of the value will depend on how the brands play their cards in the meantime. But with Ferrari ramping up production and Bugatti with not even a single car definitely in the pipeline, the odds get slightly in favour of the Bug I think.
