I want one. You really see the muscular and exotic shape in that grey colour.

15k deposit and about 1.5 years away - I really want to get on the spider list but they are saying that alteast 3 years away. I really can`t believe it takes them this long to release a `refreshed`version of the spider.

I would put an aftermarket exhaust on right away.

Too conservative inside and out for me.

    Downshifts sound good!

Though it's a mediocre quality sound clip on the Ferrari site, the 488's tone seems quite turbo-muffled at high rpm. It sounds noticeably less special than the F40 (different car/different era, I know). Hopefully, the 488 sounds better in person.

Doesn't sound very loud, but that hasn't stopped me from placing my deposit. :)

It's lack of screaming. If you put aftermarket exhaust, it will sound louder, but still no screaming. The engine is not highly tuned anymore, it's just a normal engine being boosted by vacuum.
But IMO, from all turbo charged available now, this still sounds the best. By far better than Beetle Turbo or Mclaren. And the look is by far the most beautiful.

I wouldn't call it normal, it is still pretty remarkable. : )

I bet you can get it to scream, but it will take straight pipes which won't be liveable for most. I agree though, doesn't sound like an upgraded exhaust will restore the high end scream.

...and, like you, I can't think of a better sounding modern turbo engine.

Only a rumor I've heard 3rd party, so take it how you wish...... 488 platform is a short term stopgap, 3 years max, mules are already out for it's replacement, to be a small displacement V6 turbo Hybrid....

My advice is keep hold of your V8's

I've no problem with v6, but why not just make it NA & hybrid and just ditch the turbos all together. They'll have better emissions and still keep the sound.

Only if you like that deep Nascar-like growl. Personally I don't. Scream all the way.

I could have excised the tumor myself with a 15 blade scalpel, 3 mm margins and 3-0 PDS complex closure but instead I succumbed to the illness. Just signed my deposit on the 488 spider.
