I saw a 348 with a plain shifter knob. Looked like a polished stainless or some other metal. It wasn't shiny and no shift pattern on it. Did some come like this?

Simple answer is no they did not come with it but they found their way into the Challenge series cars and since many of us 348 owners opted to outfit are cars with them. If I am wrong someone here will soon pipe in to correct me. They are available through many sources including Ferrari, designed with or without the shift pattern. I believe Hill Engineering (a Fchat Sponsor) also manufactuers their own and sell's there version of it, Ricambi (another Fchat Sponsor) is also a good source for one.

So if Ferrari made shift knobs without the pattern on them. Could this 348 be stock as the owner swears that's with it came with?

Relax, its only a shift knob. Lol. Sure the PO could have changed it without the new owner knowing. Its easy to change. Or one could have machined the gate pattern off ...

The car could be all stock other than this ??

I doubt this is what came from the factory.

I have an original 1990 348 TS, shifter knob is black with the shift pattern engraved. If the car you saw is a later model, who knows? :)
