My UK delivered '76 had a Blaupunkt Koln....the original paperwork for the radio was with the car when I got it. The photos where the car featured in the books and magazine articles of the day also confirm this.

It depends on the market. For U.S. Turbo Carreras, the Bamberg was standard.

For RoW, some markets had the Koln as standard, Bamberg as an option. For Italy, any radio was an option so they would not be "radio delete" on a COA if no radio was fitted.

Door speakers became standard in 1976 even for RoW markets that had Koln radios as standard or in the case of Italy, no radio as standard fitment.

Like the sunroof delete misnomer, true radio deletes are very rare for 3-liter turbos.

Over spray on things present, some interior materials seem wrong, also rubber gaskets under headlight washers not there to add to the list of details overlooked in this restoration. Sure, little things that are not that much but over all If I would have paid for this restoration I would have been pretty disappointed in the end result, if originality was the goal. A savvy buyer may have factored these items in, to later be redone right, with what they paid, as the price did seem less than usual. So these, and other things that may be unknown by just looking at the photos, may have been the reason. So another $100K for a perfect original or a factory correct restoration may not seem too much after all, after taking things into consideration.

smoother fit of the rear lid - no roughening up the painted parts

Extra support for the rear wing above, that rested in the middle of the otherwise stock lid.

It became 'fairly heavy' at speed.

Did the 3.3 tea tray have those or was it whale tail only? I know my Weissach and my 77 have them, but can't remember if my 79 and 86 did.

They were installed on all 3.0's and 3.3's thru very early '79. Likely necessary for the more flexible resin based whale tail but later found unnecessary for the steel based tea tray. My 3.3 has survived over 35 unblemished years without these little jewels.

This is a low mileage original '78 that has them. Maybe the earlier 1979's had them but the mid and later build 1979's did not. '86 would not have them.

The same Dr Konradsheim who makes reproduction tail supports makes reproduction snorkels. They come with the gaskets. You could ask if they will sell the gaskets separately.

I can nit-pick a number of things on the car, but overall, I'm surprised the car isn't at least $10k more. Curious to see how long this hangs around for.

In other news, I was planning on having my '77 out of the garage for the first time in 2015 this weekend, but it's been a bit damp and she's stayed tucked away. Very much looking forward to getting back to driving her.
