The gold Countach that has crashed in London is RHD #1120228
"Oro Metallizzato - Senape. Delivered on October 15th, 1976. Rebuilt to LP400S in 1980 (Rosso)."

    You are very welcome! :)

I am making research on every sinle one of them.

Does anybody know this RHD LP400? Is the color Oro Sahara... or just a Giallo Fly with too much light on it?

There was only one Oro Sahara LP400, #1120278 (RHD), exported to Australia in October 1977.

It's great to see this car wearing its original color again... after all this time! ;)

It's a very difficult colour to display correctly on ones screen. If I may describe it as yellow, rather heavily diluted, perhaps with a shade of ochre tipped in. Note, it is a metalised paint. In the sun, it glows a deep yellow golden brown.

a light gold, you can notice a "metal flake" in some light exposure that Giallo fly doesn't have

    Indeed.

My understanding is that Oro Sahara on Lamborghinis appears like this Miura and the Urraco from the same era as the LP400 (which you'll notice is labelled "Oro Sahara") as featured below.

Of course Ive no definitive assurance of this, and perhaps I'll be corrected, but the LP400 posted earlier *appears* to be metallic yellow.

Perhaps images in different lighting will show otherwise.

Of course, it is extremely difficult to really get the right shade from a vintage photo.

This "Oro - Bianco" of the car you just posted was a special (optional?) gold paint named "Oro Rolls Royce", a very intense shade of gold and somehow the darkest.
Only #1120032 got this paint. This car was originally Oro Rolls Royce - Tobacco, but the interior has changed to Bianco. That photo you posted is from the time it was already imported in Japan (from Iran, originally).
Unfortunately, this car is now Red.

The car from the "convoy" (1120228) was a regular Oro Metallizzato.

The Oro Sahara paint is the brightest (yellow-ish) gold shade of the three.
Carl described it perfectly: "If I may describe it as yellow, rather heavily diluted, perhaps with a shade of ochre tipped in. Note, it is a metalised paint. In the sun, it glows a deep yellow golden brown."

    Nice shot anyway! Thanks.

But are you sure it is Oro Sahara?

There were 2 gold RHD LP400 imported in Australia:
    _ 1120278 Oro Sahara - Tobacco
    _ 1120244 Oro Metallizzato - Tobacco

This is the French 1120176, I believe. ;)
    Oro Metallizzato.

Yes it's 1120278. It's clearly described as Oro Sahara guida destra "GD" in the official factory records. It does look yellow in the photos but when it's out in sunlight you can see the gold.

The Urraco/Espada colour chart shows Oro met. The Countach/Silhouette colour chart shows Oro Sahara. Yet the Convoy Silhouette, Countach and Urraco were all the same colour [Oro met]...and all consigned on the same day. Perhaps Oro Sahara was not introduced until later and after 1120244...

It occurs to me that a similar transition may have taken place between Bleu met and Tahiti Blue. Is there any evidence of this?

Sounds to me like all this is simply random application of names and ad hoc re-naming of the same thing for a different year or model.

Really? Bleu met is not the same colour as Tahiti blue! And there were no Oro Sahara Urracos either!

Don't know about dates but the PPG paint codes for each are:

    Oro Metallizzato - 2.463.239

    Oro Sahara Metallizzato - 2.463.685
