Yes. I also *think* there was a difference in the panels on the very early cars. Perhaps Daniel can confirm?

No, somebody made that access hole for the oil plug.

Mine has no notch. That photo of the undertray's is also a preproduction pic so its always possible things change between the photos and the end product and it was ditched??

Both of my cars have had the notch, PO's make them so they don't have to tear the under tray off to access the huge allen plug for oil pan.

It makes life easy for people who service their cars.

Yeppers. 95s are different from 96-99, and there's actually a different panel set for the really early 95s for some reason. Bought one off a guy here who didn't bother to tell me it was for the early 95. I tried giving it away to anyone with a 95 who wanted it but apparently there are very very few cars that used that particular set, so it ended up in a dumpster.

Is your center section 1 or 2 piece?

I have a very early 94 build with dual fuel pumps. I pulled off my undertrays over the weekend for repair. Decided to look at prices on Eurospares today out of curiosity. I noticed the middle undertray (largest) part is a 2 piece design according to the diagram on Eurospares. I was mad confused as I don’t recall the undertray being 2 pieces. I took the undertray to my office today awaiting repair so it is not with me at the moment.

Upon further research, I realized I do indeed have the one piece undertray with the notch and access square panel as Dave Rocks posted a pic of his in another thread.

This is awesome! Another rare early car feature I did not know I had :). Undertray is 100% fiberglass. Flimsy and thin. Poorly made and asking to get damaged. I also noticed only the center naca duct had a mesh installed, but the 2 ducts on each side did not. Very interesting.

*Eurospares does not have the 1 piece version on their site.

You can understand the reasoning for the change though. Would be a pain in the backside to remove the one piece undertray for access to the engine for servicing. Mine is a 95 with single fuel filter and has the two part middle undertray. But also there is a further update which had some aerodynamic shape changes to the undertray not sure why they added to that but the 5.2 all have the change.

James. Yours might be the very first iteration of the 2 piece design. If you notice the later version of the smaller section, they don’t have a “notch” but they are shorter in comparison to yours. In essence, a bigger/wider notch.

Barry. Looks like you also have the 1-piece design. Do you have the square access panel?

New version is also smooth on the inside. Looks like a plastic or two fiberglass pieces bonded together to have both sides with a smooth finish. Mine clearly shows fiberglass mat on the inside.

I do see the design feature now. There is a raised section towards the rear. My guess is a spot venturi feature for more downforce at the rear or they are trying to speed up the airflow early.

The 355 undertray is also a piece of automotive history. I believe it is the first production car with full underpanels. Correct me if I’m wrong.

The F355 was a technical tour de force in the 90’s. One of the main reasons I love it so much.

So they put the notch in for easier ferrari service? That just doesn't sound like Ferrari.

The fact that the early car had a notch and they realized it was too easy to change the oil seems more logical.
