I've almost finalised my spec for my Speciale but I'm confused as to whether I've got the right information regarding the rear parking sensor having to be optioned together with the rear camera.
As I've seen cars advertised just with the parking sensors plus they both have different option numbers. Is the dealer correct, must I have a rear parking camera if I go for the sensors?

Why would you not want the camera? Rear view leaves much to be desired IMVHO.

Resale. Will be required in U.S. for 2018. No camera would just make the car seem more out of date.

I did not want the rear camera either and want only only the rear sensors but your dealer is correct in that in order to get the rear sensors you have to order the rear camera also. I decided to opt out for both since I never like rear camera.

I had it on my 2013 spider, it was ok while I had it but hardly ever relied on it. Skipped it on the speciale. I much rather have the folding side view mirrors, they stick out quiet a bid from rest of the car.

in UK you can get front and rear sensors without Camera. Camera a must have for backing up, you'll see if you don't have one , No pun intended

You can order the rear sensors and camera separately on the Italia (coupe or spider) but NOT on the Speciale.

I have 2014 Spider with front and rear sensors. I don't even think i need the front sensors. Rear sensors are fine and useful when reversing into parking stall. For my 488 i will get rear sensors only. Drove a Huracan definitely need rear cam on that ride.

Not crazy about the look on the bumpers with sensors, but with at 300k plus car, why not get as much protection as possible. I have both F/B sensors and backup camera on my spider. Do you absolutely need them, no...but nice have...

didn't know it was going to be mandatory but it's about time. the cost to put backup cameras in all cars is so small compared to the added safety benefit that it really should have been mandatory years ago.

Definitely get both. I use the sensors all the time because my garage is a right fit.

Agree... some people may not appreciate it not until they hit on something when they back up the car. IMO... get it. It is so troublesome if you want to add later.

The camera and sensors have to be ordered together in Canada, and cannot be ordered separately.

Cheers Guys, thanks for the confirmation that you can't order a speciale with parking sensors only and that you have to have the rear camera too. As I can't park without rear sensors I have no choice but to have the camera too!

This is the same problem in France so I order my Speciale with parking sensors (PAR2) and rear camera (PAC1)

Camera in our Tahoe, GMC Yukon, and thank goodness yes, also in our 458.
If you've had a backup camera in anything I cannot imagine, why you would want a 458(or any other model) without one. We have a very low height brick divider between our driveway and our neighbor's driveway a few feet lower. Very easy to misjudge how close you are to that wall. Our garage is at a 90 degree angle to the wall so you can't back straight out, which adds to the problem of possible rear end damage. Personally, I wouldn't want to have damage to my car and a repair bill, which could have been avoided. This is just one example of the problem of trying to live without a camera. Sure the system is expensive, but so is everything it seems when it concerns Ferrari ownership. For my peace of mind, I love the camera, and you will quickly get over having this little camera on the back of your Ferrari. Take another look. It's not like you're hanging a Go-Pro off your fender!

Id have the rear ones everytime. Having said that I was a bit annoyed week ago , I was reversing in a carpark and then heard this horrible scraping sound at the rear, my sensors had picked nothing up, anyway turned out their was a kerb foot plus high & I had reversed over it, the rear diffuser got the scraping, horrible sound, in fact sounded so much worse than the damage, mine is a carbon fibre Diffuser, and its roughed the fin edges a bit but nothing too serious....but watch out for those low kerbs when reversing...the sound nearly gave me a heart attack!!

Yep! I've had the same. The rear sensors seem not well tuned for low curbs. Even the camera can fail by whiting out in direct sun which contributed to my incident. Fortunately not too much damage and it happened in the first week so the baptism was quick....
