Meh,OY VAY and strewth!!!! you've obviously NEVER experienced a CARBY FEOHOS in full song....old mate.....far better than the sanitised, modern version of the marque.
Having owned a MOHOS for 23 years and not wanting to use it, for lots of reasons a Modern Ferrari V12 and especially a 456 ticks all the boxes.
You'd be surprised at how good the ride is - even with these monsters. These giant aluminum over steel cars are true GT's and the self leveling rear end, bilstein shocks, etc make for a great ride. I am using Michelin super sports, with a recent alignment and they feel incredible. Like I said she is my DD and is used in a multitude of weather and road conditions and I am very comfortable. If you want the aesthetics and extra handling, try the larger rims. Here's a few more examples from this site with the 18" Maranello rims among a bunch of others...mostly cribbed from posts here. One incredible expert is Taz phillips (tazandjan). He is literally a rocket scientist and knows everything there is to know about the V12 world and particularly wheels and rims. He has a beautiful 575...Just do a search...
Thanks Aircon. I love driving her. A unique ferrari - which is ironic given how relatively inexpensive they are.
When I drove my Ferrari for the first time, driving it back home from Melbourne, I picked up a piece of metal which flicked up and scratched my side-skirt. Seems this type of bad luck bull**** affects all F cars one way or another. Hope my sob story helps you sleep better at night.
did you get yours repainted? one of mine is scratched underneath, i was quoted $1300 for the repaint - wondering if its in line with the market or 'ferrari tax' was applied
I would've thought $500 is enough to cover it, but there you go will shop around once my suspension is sorted
I have a quote for my front bumper reasonable price provided I remove the bumper. I am also looking at getting the two RH wheels repainted due gutter rash. If I can co ordinate all this I will get some new tyres at the same time.
I was looking at the usual door window seal issue and took the drivers / Right hand door post trim off and found this decal. All I can assume for the stories i have heard is the cars were made delivered to be delivered to Australia with the expectation the car would sell. However the interesting this is I have a record from Maranello sales saying it was delivered in may 2000..... Isn't the service warranty start date when 1st registered which could be the dealer if demo or 1st customer ?
The car was from what I can work out ordered by the first owner. Interesting it was, according to Ferrari Club Australia records, the second 456 he owned. The date on the decal says it was made for Australia in 1998 almost like the factory made the car for the Aussie market and then delivered it in 2000 when someone ordered it. It would be interesting to see where the assembly number 31744 fits in the scheme of things.
Nothing to worry about. Poltrona Frau make the trim for Ferrari, the date on that decal was when the trim was made, not when the car was built. If your car was delivered May 2000, it quite possibly was built at the end of 1999. My 575 was an 02 build but 03 delivery - they must have used slow boats! The cost of getting type approval for V12 models could not be recovered from the natural demand here, whereas V8's were usually wait listed. So Ferrari made the Australian importer order a minimum number of V12's in a ratio to V8's, hence V12's regularly came here "on spec" and waited for a buyer. Particularly the case with 4 seat models. I suspect that's why we have so many red/tan cars here (particularly 599's) because the dealers regard this as the most sale friendly, whereas anyone actually ordering a car for themselves would choose a more elegant combination. You're lucky to have such a nice colour scheme.
Ian, thank you. that helps explain the anomaly. I have heard that some V12 were just sent with V8 orders for the dealers to sell. I get the impression Blue was the most common 456 colour.
Thanks Simon, seeing as I've never done anything for you, feel free to insult me, just because I make the effort to offer some advice.
