Maybe it's a Porsche thing. On my last 911 I got it down to 46 minutes working alone. Going by your pictures though it's a more complex job than a 911.

We inspected my 5 year old belts and my opinion is that the belt change itself is the least important part of the whole process. It's all the other stuff you find when you're in there that justifies the 5 year rule. Doing this for belts only seems unnecessary.

From the engine on the floor, to engine in with bolts torqued down, and nothing else connected, 2 hours is a decent time. Also, as Gobble said, getting the engine out to do everything else is the reason. The belt, it lasts a long time.

It took me two hours just to remove the front carpets and evacuate the Freon. That time above is amazing.

    Holy smokes.

1: TWO hours? I don't care if that was with 4 people. Wowzer
    2: 4 times in 9 years? Why?

My car is just about done...and it has been gone since January 6th!

4x in 9 years seems excessive...unless absolutely imperative to do so.

Are you using some sort of hydraulic lift table? I'm thinking about picking one up so I can drop the motor out instead of lifting the body off.

.....the only hydraulic is the lift...... the table is a four Wheel one, just because it is easier to swing around.

I have been busy for 2 weeks already, and the moment is approaching fast!
Just have to make sure the ecu cable / loom is free, and I have it out.
2 weeks, of maybe 2 hours an evening, and on the saturdays and sundays some extra time, so I would estimate 15 - 20 hours...
But I have labelled everything, and in the same time made the dolly, and a higher floor to let the dolly pass the lower parts of my polishing lift (easy for brakes and bodywork/ not so easy if you have to remove an engine...)
So 2 hours is absurdly fast in my eyes...
Hope to do the next in a few years, in say 10 hours...

That's exactly what I was thinking. Do your 4x4 pads leave room to drop the oil pan too? (Looks like the HF 1000lb table is on sale for $260 too)

What he said is not clear, but what I read is he put the engine back into the car in 2+hours without connecting anything up. With a lift, that is very standard speed.

From driving the car on to a lift, and engine on the ground, it is 6 hours with 2 persons.

You could but that seems easier to do with the engine in the car. You can stack a 25% coupon onto the sale price too.

Not to hijack the thread, but knowing that I have to replace the crank seal. Pull the oil pan, drop the motor, perform major, put motor back in, re-install oil pan?
