At the most recent vmax200 on a wet track at Bruntingthorpe the Laferrari was 11 mph quicker than the P1 (206 vs 195). Results | VMAX200
P1 was not at max, lafa was on a dry track,? and hit 206, I was on a wet track, and it does make a diff btw, in full down force mode, ie HL and hit 204....been told that Race mode, ie , less drag with have given another 7-10 mph, on the beams...
The P1's owner never took it out of Sport Mode, i.e. didn't try. Same car made 209mph previously (PB's car). Think you're being optimistic there. Distance runs out real quick at those speeds and the time taken to cover 10mph above 200mph is around 8s, as per your own video (200-210mph indicated). 8s is 720m at 202.5mph. By comparison, a P1 takes 2s from 200-205mph.
Yeah, you won't top 210mph unless your car is a long, long way from standard, or there's a hurricane blowing behind you. I'm also puzzled as to why you would run maximum downforce at a Vmax event anyway.
I assure you my car is stock.., because it was very very wet, and I wanted to make sure the car was planted, in addition to see how long the batts would last in HL mode... It was so wet under foot at one point PB stopped his cars from running, Don't forget also I had a passenger in for all my runs, have to think of their safety also..
Hi As per R-list, engines run in at Fac, box etc, requires about 300 miles, I had gone way past this....
For the record with the speed restrictions at The Ring the lap times have come down by about 30s. If they stay in place Stephen's record is safe for all time. 7 is the new 6:30 NS.
Had not seen that before! Just awesome! BTW, contrary to what many thought (including me), 918 demand exceeds supply and there is a 60+ person US waitlist (in case deposit holders decide not to take their car) according to my local Porsche dealer. These cars are going for 500-600K over list in the used market now!
Hi, mate! Yes, engine is run in at the factory, but nevertheless Porsche says 2000 miles break in period for the car as a package and optimum performance.
One thing I noticed about the video is that at 350 kph, the tachometer has not yet redlined. It looks as if it is at about 8900 rpm, and I believe the redline is 9150 rpm. Is there room for a little more speed in the car, or is the car electronically limited to 350 kph?
Thinks it's limited to 214mph (345kph), but speedo is about 6mph out based on Vmax video and results.
Quattroruote has calculated 347.8 kph http://www.germancarforum.com/threads/918-spyder-quattroruote-road-test.51931/#post-717942
I guess it may be limited to 350 kph per speedometer, which is somewhat less actual speed due to speedo error.
Can't see that post, but Apolo1 went through the radar at Vmax indicating 210mph, which was a verified 204mph (-6mph/10kph). 350kph is 217.5mph indicated, so theoretically that works back to ~211.5mph with the same error. Tyre pressure, temperature and wear will change rolling circumference slightly, so things can vary a little either way. I suspect the speed limiter is gear and rpm based.
The above is correct, but this does not mean it will not go faster, like I said I ran in max DF mode, due to the weather, wing has to be in Sport mode setting for max speed....We will find out next month..... LMFAO, Would you like to attend?
if you not living in Germany then forget top speed ! And if you living in Germany you not going to drive it full speed every day Imho ! a Veyron can do over 250mph and in my case I never used my Veyron's top speed keys ! my 2 cents. Mbn
Nah, I just sit here and be utterly unshocked when you don't make 211-214mph GPS, like you claimed you could. Heck, if you did, it would only mean you'd modded your car anyway.
