Nick, I have always had a thing about pits. As a child I remember my uncle had one in his garasge. When I bought a garage business in the late 60s there was a pit,and a ramp situation, side by side. The pit always filled with water in the winter due to close to sea level/water table etc. Extended shop,so built another long pit,as part of MOT bay. No prob with water, special lining, and should it happen,we sank a large plastic bucket into a corner so that you would be able to drain out from this point. Also had a slight fall on the floor for this. Provided elec supply and fitted flame proof striplights. No point in a pit if you cant see anything. All that said,my lads really did'nt use it much compared to the lift. Moved to new workshop, smaller, just next door,so,space being tight, put in a pit, Nobody used it,and we stored larger body panels in it. It flooded!. FWIW,I would suggest a right angled metal frame to the top,and finish the cement to it. Use same hight wood boards, wide as poss, for quick access. Its a bit late now, but,I dont think you have made it long enough.

My pit is great (well it will b when the concrete goes off), Its not car length, but it certainly long enough for my 308 and Zonda :) all the good stuff is at the back of the car :D

You have built that with the Zonda in the same space!! admitted under plastic sheeting.

    Brave man, wouldn't trust myself.
