    Earlysport,

I suspect your 930 had different seat inlays when new (probably Dress McKenzie tartan), which needed to be replaced at some time in the mid to late 1980s and the upholsterer used 1980s Porsche fabric.

Ad says $99,500. Less 20% for those with US dollars, so say $80k US. Still superficially looks a good deal.

I can go look if you are a serious buyer.

I heard about a black '75 Turbo for sale at Essen for over 400.000 euros. Please post some pics when you go there. I was there yesterday but I missed it. Manfred Hering already sold one of his '76 Turbo's on day one.

Any photos? It's interesting to see Europe waking up to these rare cars, our friends in the US were way ahead in their apreciation of these incredible cars!

    + 1.

Lets see exactly what people are allegedly spending these exaggerated numbers on.

Chassis numbers, mileage, history & pics to see condition, would be a start, even if the numbers paid can't be established.

I'd like to see corroboration of the numbers that were "heard", as sadly in most cases that's all you get, a rumor. There is so much smoke & mirrors surrounding the values of these cars. Any time I hear a story of one going for over $250k, establishing the number is mysteriously futile, and it ends up remaining just that, a story. Accordingly, I'd love to see one go for over $250k in a public auction also, that would help establish values in a solid way.

    Joe,

A 79 that used to be owned by Al Holbert was recently auctioned for $253k, a restored not original car. Bill Noon at Symbolic has sold three 76-77 930 for $200k + plus in the last 3-4 months - one was a restored 76 with 200k miles. I don't think it'd take a particularly special 76 these days to crack $250k.

I can corroborate as well as I've passed on a few '76s that ultimately sold for the mid $200ks.

This was not a restored car. It had an older repaint and engine rebuild, but otherwise very original. While a nice car, the results were rather shocking. Bidding was very strong into the $200ks however and this car ran no reserve.

Thanks - didn't mean to say restored but repainted. A very strong result for a 79- I was very surprised at final price as well.

Many private sales are in confidence, so moot point, however the public auction results and reported real sales indicate that buyers are going to be paying more now than yesterday. Sure there are some blue sky asking prices out there and a few out of touch asking way less than others. I remember when I was scrambling to get clients the new must have collectible back in the 80s and 90s for yesterdays prices but usually ended up letting them find out the bad news for themselves.

Canepa had a beautiful 77 930 - the ask was $375k- anyone know if that car sold.

    Got boost?

One of the things I love about the '77 is that you can watch her hit boost as well as feel it. That and the 16" wheels, which makes getting tires much easier.

    Steve,

+1 but better eyes on road than on the boost gauge at hyper-speed my friend!

In retrospect, seems unusual that 1975 and 1976 Turbos were not fitted with factory boost gauges. Even more so for 1975 Turbos with U.S. made Garrett wastegates that tended to jam.

Poor quality photo of the birch green 1975 Turbo ONS safety car (plate BB PV 612) at the 1975 Le Mans. Despite the poor resolution, this photo shows an interesting stripe on the hood and also a black painted passenger mirror - evidence that there were standard passenger side mirrors available in 1975 (albeit not body color). Surely there must be additional photos of the silver and birch green 1975 Turbo ONS safety cars somewhere.

Good point...perhaps not Le Mans but another circuit in Europe where the ONS cars were used?

In addition to the cross drilled brake rotors, it would be interesting to find out what other modifications were on these two ONS '75 Turbos. After the 1975 racing season, they were probably just used as road cars and the provenance lost to time. To my knowledge, all three of the '75 Turbos that were at the 1975 Le Mans have not surfaced to this day.
