It appears that both my camshaft covers are not perfectly flat....this would allow obviously oil to escape.

How comes they are not flat?
I thought the factory matches them to the heads to ensure tight/perfect fit.
Replacements can only be bought together with a new head!

Not possible to grind down to get flat on mine....the RH one is particularly bad...too much metal to remove.
Will have to fill in with extra silicone i guess when refitted

What could have caused this warping?

    Does this happen often?
    Any ideas on a fix?

Removed hot and allowed to cool off motor?
They flex, so maybe ok when bolted down.

You can't check them on the bench. Bolt them to the motor with no gasket and use a feeler gauge to check for warps (perhaps you did but you don't say). If you find areas that the gasket can't handle then address those issues.

    Did you powder coat them?
