Kinda like that really beat up Countach that sold for 75K at one time.

Hmm I wonder where that one is now.

you know if they are all going up whats wrong with one with some issues?

I saw one of the guys commenting on this car had bought another Diablo carbons black somewhat modified car and that one is now on Roys website. Not sure on the abilities of these other people who keep passing. No one really has any good reasons they passed on it, Unless its in another thread. other than lots of owners, and it has some miles on it.

But isn't that really a good thing? Its set up to drive. Burning clutches well thats the drivers ability not a problem with the car.

I missed out on the countach boat because I either couldn't seal a deal before a seller got weird, Or someone else bought it before I got to it. Or I passed because of perceived issues and feelings of a car being overpriced or I didn't like the colors.

Key have you bought a lambo yet?

'97 RO rossa targa/crema 6.5k miles (original) "helped" along the way by some thread participants. I understand better ('know') other marques that I own reasonably well and am getting up to speed regarding Lambo. As noted, looking for early 2wd Diablo....simply looking to avoid a toad...again, any/all help greatly appreciated. Thanks,

    Jack

After owning a very early 1991 Lamborghini Diablo 2WD car for the past 6 months or so... I have to say that the car has completely grown on me.

I have seen the nicer early cars advertised for $165,000-200,000 lately and I feel that they are an amazing value.

Compared to my 1998 Diablo SV, at first, I hated the early car. The lack of power steering and its very stiff clutch turned me off.

But, what is the purpose of owning a car like this? A Diablo is not a car anyone should or want to drive everyday. It is made for high speed jaunts and spirited weekend drives.

THIS is where the early 2WD car excels. It is F40 like.

The back end lets loose on full acceleration, the entire interior makes this race car vibration... and honestly the fact that the car is pretty simple...i.e. front lift, fuel injection system, no alarm system... It's just a great car.

While the 1998 SV is very rare, easy to drive, fast, MUCH better in stop and go traffic, comfortable compared to a Countach (pictured below in Miami but not mine...) I think that a clean unmolested 1991-1992 2WD will be a $200-250k car in the near future.

I could not agree more. Transition to Countach - and a similar raw driving experience with much more power: that is what early 2WD Diablos have to offer.

The fact that the market is "empty" now of good cars does speak for itself.

And there is something else: public oppinion is not seeing this car after 25 years as a "supercar", but as a "classic" which does change a lot.
Go get a good one NOW!

The only thing I am not really sure is the odd comparison to F cars. TR was a cruiser GT in the shape of a supersports. F40 was a stripped down supersports. In real world performance on a longer jorney across the continent I do not see a Diablo being slower or fast than any of the other two. But for sure the ride is as thrilling (and sometimes scary) as in the F40 and as comfortable as in the TR. So maybe best of both worlds?

That's the beauty about a Diablo. It's STILL as fast as pretty much anything out there....except the latest Lamborghinis and hyper cars. I remember when I went to the unveiling of the 458 and was surprised that my VT Roadster was almost identical in number specs.

It's faster than an f 40 and while I love my TR, it's docile in comparison.

testarossa is meant to be driven in a suit a tie, the diablo its meant to scare the crap out of you...by most (idiots) its still considered an old car and not a classic yet. beware, the beast is still sleeping..but it will wake up. i expect great things for the Diablo.

Many suggest they'd prefer owning a well maintained "higher mileage" vehicle over a low mileage "garage queen", however, if one inquires about the value of a higher mileage vehicle the response is generally negative.

I'm in this situation right now with my 40k mile '98 Monterey Edition SV #3 of 20 produced that has recently been thoroughly gone through and just received over $20k worth of maintenance and services.

A 17 year old car with 40k+ miles seems somewhat reasonable IMO. Why own this type of vehicle and not put 2k or so miles a year on it.

    This made my Monday :)

I'm still searching ancestry.com for some sort of distant relation to Roy. Surely his kids don't need multiple 6.0 SEs and 12th-removed cousin Dave can keep one of them in good running condition? :D

    From today.
A Mobile search incl. all of europe. Only lists 4 2wd cars for sale
    127 - 190.000 Eur-

I the UK I only see one (LHD) 2wd for sale, in a very rough state for 90.000£ + VAT
No RHD drive cars for sale.

No idea what the actual sales prices might be, but I for sure see very few cars offered for sale now.

In Australia dealers are offering AU$200k for them and AU$330k for 6.0s.

All various Diablo models sell here for the equivalent price as in the US.

In December, Lambo dealer sold a perfect two owner, yellow '98 Roadster for $180k. Now they are offering $280k-$300k to any owner who's willing to sell one.

Has anybody else noticed a slow down in Diablo market?
I wonder what that Diablo GT would go for now, seen some being listed overseas for 700-900 USD. But listing and getting are two very different things as we know.

I don't know if I would say that. Both scale and andycorp just picked up some early Diablos.....at the now higher established pricing.

Perhaps it's just the excitement of the upswing to higher prices levels that's just wearing off. I just see it now as the new normal.

$140K is the most I've ever paid for an early Diablo and that was the cheapest on the market I have seen in the past 3 months.

I agree. The Diablo has not aged a bit.

It would be interesting to see a list of all recent sale prices (on all Diablo year & models) since the market/value increase.
