Looking for a little help from some experienced 348 owners. I am really new to this, looking to purchase my first ferrari. I really like the 348's and they seem to fit with what my wife is likely to let me spend. Came across this one in the classified forum, but it is listed on ebay. Ferrari 348 Standard | eBay The owner has been really up front about the car, and I read some postings about this car on the forum. Seems like a good guy who has taken care of the car well. But curious what some of you guys who are much more "in the know" think about this car? I think it looks great, but I am not sure I can trust myself! Thanks, Dan
+1. The seller sounds like an honest guy and I believe him when he says he can't let anything go that isn't perfect. Sometime I just get a good feeling about an ad and this is one of them. I'm with Bruce, buy the car. My 355 changed my life for the better in many different ways, still have it 8 years later. $40k+ is nothing for one of the last old-school Ferrari's, especially if as represented. Do it, you'll thank us later!! EDIT: I don't know the car or seller at all, so not a promotion in any way.
You also might want to delete this thread, as sometimes lookie-loo's who are on the fence see a car that others are interested in and snipe it (not that there's anything wrong with that if no deposit is down). If I had another garage space and it wasn't red, I'd consider it!! j/k
I don't think it's a huge secret, just look into the "for sale" section and find this: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferraris/484709-1990-ferrari-348ts-sale.html Just sayin' ...
This car is in my area and I have seen it and met the owner on several occasions. You can not find a nicer 348 and the owner is a real stand up person so if you are serious you should go after this car. Selfishly I hate to see Jerry sell the car and have it leave our area.
I was without Internet for a day there so this is a little late, but I wanted to thank all those who responded. I am amazed what a great online community this is, really helpful advice given on each thread I have read. Thanks for the feedback on the 348. I am anxious to become a first time ferrari owner and have been reading tons on this site, but it can still be a little overwhelming. Still on the fence about this auction, it is really hard to buy a car without "kicking the tires" in person! But the car sure does look nice... Let's see what happens with this auction. Sometimes they go really high in the final minutes. Thanks again guys! Dan
Buying a car sight unseen can be a scary experience for the uninitiated. There some basic rules: Remove your emotions Get a complete set of pictures Ask lots of questions Look at the service history and Carfax Have the car inspected Check the title Pay for the car and order a truck. Then wait for delivery!
Just saw this thread. Thanks for the kind words. If all goes well, it looks like the car will have a new owner tomorrow morning.
I am outbid...May easily hit north of 50k as the previous post suggests. Scrambling to see if I can stay competitive, but I may be coming up short. Like I said earlier, the owner was very up front and this seems to be a great example of a 348 taken care of. Someone is getting a sweet ride! I may be better off waiting with the classified section for a traditional sale. Ebay auctions are tough! Thanks again to all who lent advice... Dan
This is a perfect example of an unmolested stock 348 and the market has spoken. Glad to see someone is not scared of the relatively "high" miles. This car is well sorted, and the extra money spent now won't be spent later. The high bidder is well aware of that and the price shows it. Great to see the 348 finally getting some respect. Seems prices are on the rise. Good on the seller for waiting another year. Congrats on the sale!
This is a beaut! I think it was for sale here not 6 months ago (and on ebay) @ $40k and there where no takers I hope it gets to over 50k, only 8 min left nope sold for $48,100. I think a very good buy
Obviously I am pleased with the sale. I am equally pleased that it is going to a first time Ferrari owner who has served 28 years as a fireman. We have already talked and he is overjoyed!! He has called me a number of times over the past couple days with great questions. On our last conversation last night after 10:00, he said he didn't think he would sleep well!! Interestingly, he found out about the car from his mechanic who has been on the lookout for a car. He was close to buying a 328 about a year ago. His mechanic saw the eBay ad and then read the thread on the timing belt service, saw that I had tons of records and liked that the car was stock. As usual I appreciate the supportive comments on Ferrari Chat. Of all the forums I have been involved with, I rank FChat #1.
Hello Ferrari Chat community, I am the lucky new owner of this fantastic automobile. I have been searching for my first Ferrari for some time now and have been monitoring this fourm to learn as much as possible. As the previous owner mentioned, I was very close to closing a deal on a 1986 328 (2 owner car) about 9 months ago. Due to the price jump in the 328, I began to look for a Ferrari that was more within budget range. I fell in the love with the 348... When my mechanic pointed out Jerry's car I knew right away that this was "the one". Although I have NEVER bought a car with out seeing it in person, Jerry's documentation, photo's and overall presentation (and taking my numerous telephone inquires) of the car gave me the confidence I needed to take the "big leap". By the way some of my friends think I'm crazy to have purchased a vehicle "over the Internet". The car will be shipped from North Carolina to California in a couple of weeks and I can't wait to drive it!!!!
Congrats! Very nice car. Paint the bottom panels to red and you'll have a very beautiful 348. Enjoy her in good health.
Congratulations! You bought a very nice 348 and you will enjoy it I am sure. So sad to see it leave NC though.
