If you haven't watched the following video from Geneva, you might enjoy it. It features Ferrari's Director of Marketing giving an F-Gear reporter a 488 walk-around. https://youtu.be/T-RbNqaFbBw
I know this is slightly O/T with everyone talking about configurations, but does anyone know what happened to the electric turbos that ferrari were reportedly working on?
Electric turbos were never intended for this, or any other road going Ferrari. Not any time soon at least.
Thx for posting and looks great in the wild! Interesting that the Italia behind it sounded quieter, though I'm sure it was just cruising along
I don't doubt that ferrari is working hard to make the 488 sound good. Different, sure. But loud and good. Once we owners see in the flesh I bet we will like the new car just fine.

Found another vid, the idle sounds great to me bit surprising [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=84ro2Di6rsY&[/ame]
Pleased and somewhat bemused to say I've put a deposit down on a 488GTB, and I'm going into the city to view one on Monday. I'll take some pics and stuff if I can. The current quoted wait for delivery is fairly extensive but I'm sure it will be worth it, and I've been told a couple of times that it could drop if people cancel etc. I've driven a 458, which I was fairly amazed by. I've had a V8 R8 for a while now which I drive pretty hard and absolutely love. In contrast the 458 felt even sharper, more dramatic and when provoked more aggressive. It had a sports exhaust fitted which I thought was overkill at full chat (despite sounding incredible), and turned surrounding traffic into distracted chaos at all times. I'm probably one of the few nutters that will have it as their only car also, I do everything from airports to food shopping in my R8. I prefer to be (somewhat) harder to spot so budget depending it'll be roughly something like this: Image Unavailable, Please Login
If you're waiting for an aftermarket exhaust to make it scream, it's never going to happen. Turbos, man.
Why is everyone so shocked to see that it won't scream? It's a turbo. At least it still sounds like a 458 -- just muted, like a muzzled dog. It still sounds better than the Mac.
Well..depends how free you want to go. F40's can really scream. I have heard F40s that sounded amazing.
