Couldn't agree more. He should just leave and someone who is actually passionate about the sport should replace him.

It's debatable if F1 is still a sport. To me, it looks like a business.

I don't see what's wrong with this idea at all. Lets the back end teams compete at a drastically reduced budget. They will never have a chance to win races regardless of engine, but allows them to stay in the black and gives the fans a better show with some engines that actually sound worth a damn

Horner says he is intrigued by it and Force India have backed it as well. I wouldn't be surprised one bit if all this "cost cutting" and 5 engines per season, etc. is still costing teams more money than they ever spent in the multiple engines per weekend V10 era.

As seldom as a I agree with anything that guy says I have to say this sounds okay to me.
I'd like to see some different ENGINE options. They'd no doubt handicap to suit the prevailing interests but it would still be refreshing to see different power in different cars.

F1 used to be a lot less regulated and we had turbos and NA engines side by side. Was more fun then.

That really is the heart of the matter, things have become over regulated. F1 has gone from being the home of innovative men like John Cooper, Colin Chapman and Ken Tyrrell to one ruled by the likes of Jean Todt who use the regulations to impose their view of what is best on teams and manufacturers who must then search for hidden or unintended advantages, not in the originality of design but in bending the rules.

I would like to see an any configuration format. Limit displacement to a sane figure, bring back refueling, limit fuel tank size to what today's cars have. Turbo v6/ hybrid could do a race distance on a single tank but be slower while an NA V12 would be faster but need a long fuel stop. NA V8 hybrid might be the best or maybe a NA V10 non hybrid. Let the teams figure it out. Having a number of different engine types and manf. Would be great.

There are so many innovation-inspiring and rule-simplification things they could do. Finding ones that aren't likely to lead to death by cost escalation is the real challenge.

Why not only keep the 100 liter of fuel rule. Leave engine size and configuration free.

Maybe, or transform GPs into economy runs perhaps.

Do you remember when endurance had that formula?

Aka the "Jim Clark Cup", I really enjoyed that season. Two-tiers is not so far fetched when reality has proven the NA's can run more races without a rebuild and will not only light a fire amongst less fortunate "money pit" teams but will save cost.
