John, when you order, I suggest you specify FedEx for shipping. Post Office International Exptress took 5 weeks... You KNOW I'm no fan of shipping delays...
Yikes. I'm still recovering from my PTSD (Post Traumatic Shipping-takes-wayyyy-toooo-long Disorder) from my Stage 90... I have chosen, however, to delay picking up my new tags until just before the temp tag expires. I figure in a way I'm getting some wait time back???
Just went over 1,300 miles, really very used to all the driving aspects now. Great around town, fun to blast out of the front row at a stoplight. Had family in for the weekend so lots of see-what-she-can-do runs on my nearby country road twisty "circuit" with 65 degree temps and the top down and lots and lots of smiles. Sounded like the 4th of July with all the pops from the tailpipes during hard charging high rev shifts. Too good!
Congratulations again, and I am glad you are enjoying it! That is great to hear. I just got a call a couple of days ago from Ron Tonkin Gran Turismo (the local Portland dealer) letting me know they have their demo Cali T in, and that I am welcome to come and test drive...I just need to schedule a visit!
Nice! Go spend some time in it! Prep your face muscles used for smiling, you don't want to strain them...
1,500 miles and climbing. Lots of friendly interactions on the road and in parking lots. Yesterday I was driving home from the office and a stern looking lady of at least 70 was making a left in front of me in a small SUV while I was at a stop sign. She showed no emotion whatsoever, just a steely gaze at my car as she sauntered around her turn, slowed a bit, made eye contact with me, and with no change in facial expression gave the a thumbs up. I returned a wave and flashed a smile, and she returned with an OK sign, never smiling and never breaking eye contact, no change in her rather stern facial expression at all. It was awesome... I smiled and laughed the rest of the way home. I can't stop smiling now as I post this.
This has been an interesting thread that I have enjoyed over the last couple of days. I am beginning my Cali journey this week. I am working with Nathan at Boardwalk in Dallas. Build date starts in July. Any guess which month Ferrari changes model year?
Thanks, welcome to the waiting room! Making posts to this thread certainly helped the time go by after my deposit was placed. Now that I've been driving it every day it seems like the time flew by, which it DID NOT when the waiting was taking place.. . Mitchell, John, Keith, MC111, Lime1 and Marmist were big helps with their threads and posts to this one... egging eachother on... You likely need to ask Nathan about the model year question. I can tell you that you have a LOT to look forward to
Sounds like miles of fun. I'm starting to drool at the thought of mine arriving. Puddle getting bigger by the second! I'll have some catching up to do.
It's amazing to me, as a daily driver, how much of an instant, short duration vacation this car produces: Get in the car. Plug in the iPhone for CarPlay. Put in the key. Turn it. Push the start button. Na-na-na-VRROOOM-blub-blub. Open the roof. Tap Auto. Tap Reverse. Back out. Tap the right paddle. Contemplate pushing PS. Decide the office parking lot is not accommodating for that. Drive on... I think the ritual itself has an instant effect on lowering blood pressure. And having tried PS just once, smile like a maniac at the thought of the next time... Drool on, my friend, drool on...
With all my driving I have had to fill up with fuel many times, and I can happily note that there is a Cavallino just above the fuel filler opening. This prompts me to take a few minutes from driving and create an updated Cavallino Count, since I am still in my term as Chief Cavallino Counter... a position I take lightly...
Dave, that is sooooooooo funny, I have seen it countless times and never thought to mention it. It goes to show when someone (YOU) is duly elected the position is filled correctly
When using PS, you don't get wheel spin, so not to worry about tires. More fun would be nailing it with ESC OFf, thennnnn you would see tires go up in smoke. (Literally and figuratively)
PS button is for Performance Start, just below the R and AUTO buttons on the bridge piece. In many FCars there is a Launch button, seems to be by model and/or market for Ferrari. You do want to read the owners manual before you try to use it...
Oh yes...On UK cars this is the Launch control button. Something I did try (twice!) on a mile long test straight here in the UK on a performance drive day in the Cali T. Awesome experience....got up to 170mph before bottling out and hitting the anchors. I think the term 'Launch' is entirely appropriate
