I discovered a very early 1975 Turbo recently, but there's no DGM on the VIN plate right below. Any more 1975 Turbo that don't have the DGM on the VIN tag right below?

Also the TYP 930, the zul. Gesamtgewicht, the zul. Achslast vorn kg and the zul. Achslast hinten kg are not pre-stamped. This is one of the first 50 '75 Turbos produced.

Try sending a PM to F-Chat member "Guy" as he may have photographed the trunk plate of GLP 870N which is the earliest known production Porsche Turbo, #0012.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143390772-post2758.html

Someone from the UK posted on Pelican that he has "75 #0016 but I have not heard back from him by PM.

Every '75 Turbo I've seen as DGM on the trunk plate. Does your plate have a blank series block?

The 3 1975 Turbos that I have owned all have the DGM designation on the VIN plate, the earliest is #80 and the latest #274

Sorry for the bad picture, but this is what it looks like. Almost like they did not have the pre-stamped tags ready in the first 50 cars...

Porsche / The Revolutionary Collection - RENNWelt Museum Collection series

Following a successful run, the Porsche 356 gave way to what eventually became the quintessential Porsche, the 911. Porsche’s 911 proved to be a dominant sports and racing car in the 1960s after its debut in 1963. During its evolution, a series of breakthrough innovations enabled Porsche build several high performance models including the Carrera 2.7 RS, the 930 Turbo and subsequent generations of the 911 Turbo. These cars were groundbreaking in design and revolutionary in their performance.

I recently purchased 1976 9306800142 build date 12/1975 and am trying to put together it's history. It was originally delivered in Silver Metallic/Z2 with Russet Leather/Red Tartan Inlays/72. The last owner has little to no history on #142 and he took it from stock to heavily modified. He color changed the exterior and swapped a new interior (I have the original interior and tartan seats). He also changed the tail, fenders, rockers and added in the back vents.

He told me recently that 142 was originally fully dressed in B&B Polaroid rainbow stripes when he purchased it in original paint. He is going to try and dig up a photo but in the meantime, I have the cut-out vent sheet metal showing the stripes on the original paint. The stripes were painted and it's not a sticker which means it wasn't a quick nor easy job. When looking at stripes, colors and size, they match up perfectly with what B&B was doing in the early 70's. Does anyone know this car or it's history? I have read and studied pictures and mostly seen Targa's that were done with the Polaroid stripe. I have yet to find a 930. This car is soon to be fully restored and while I doubt I would dress it in Polaroid rainbow, its run to share.

I know this car wouldn't have come from the factory with the stripes, but... Does anyone know anything about this?

I am starting to wonder if this is my car

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143258502-post2638.html

William J. McCune Jr. of Polaroid did visit Zuffenhausen to pick-up his US 1976 930 so it is possible that he then took it to B&B for stripes. I do know that Polaroid was marketing or working with B&B in some sense to market the stripes and name hence why they were called Polaroid stripes.

Also, looking at dozens of pictures here, https://www.facebook.com/pages/BB-Buchmann-Frankfurt/439925272816856 most of the B&B cars were ROW from headlights, tails and reflectors. That puts the odds up higher (as so few cars had the stripes in the US) but with still no certainty that this 76 930 was William's.

Hagerty pricing just went parabolic. Joe, you started a run away freight train with this thread and its way to RS pricing.

As many have said the time to buy was yesterday. Sure a few uninformed will be higher or lower but the realization of a 930 being a car to get has been brewing for awhile.

    Well that escalated quickly

It's a shame there is no valuation chart for the homoligation cars.

Quite a increase considering the Euro is down over 30% in recent times, which one would think, have a negative impact on 930 values.

It doesn't seem to have impacted market in US. I think prices in general for turbo's were higher in Europe, so the US market has been playing catch up. I also think about 1/2 of the increase from Dec. to April is based in Dec. values being too low and/or seasonal issues with collector car sales.

Good point, not much interest from the motherland since the euro took a dive. Still think a raise in Euro buying power should have some effect on values, just based on general economic principals.
