I wonder just how much faster it can make your shifts? I appears to actually make sense So If you want a F1 but can only find a manual car here you go, Lightning fast shifts every time. If you are a Gated fan yet want the speed and sweet coolness of a real F1 transmission shift here you go. If you love the clanky slow shifts of the manual gear box. If you have the F1 (and it works) give everyone the finger with your free hand. Ferrari 355 GTB GTS Quick Shift Gate | eBay Disclaimer :this was for fun, laughs have fun with it, I do not sell these This is not my add and I do not know the owner I just came across it. there is an old saying its not the arrow its the Indian...driving talent is always what counts...rest is gimmicks
F1 is faster than gated. Neither on this car will make or break your lap times over the rest of your driving skill. This kit is meh... Robb
Giovanni (the ebay seller) buys the quick shift gates from Paul Hill eng. Hills eng has been making them for many years. F1 is way quicker though.
This is a classic example of why you need to double check the price of anything you see Ferrari related on ebay! Buying this gate off ebay will cost you over £160 if you're in the UK. However, Hill Engineering sell them directly on their site for @ £95! How about a pin to locate the 348 TS' targa roof?: ebay: £110 Eurospares: £40! Okay, people have spotted a way of making money from selling on Ferrari parts, but as a buyer of Ferrari parts, here are some tips: 1) Do your homework first! - Check around for a price comparison! 2) Do not assume that because it is on ebay it's a bargain! 3) Just because an ebay advert says it is "rare" or "hard to come by", do not automatically believe it! 4) Do not automatically believe the seller when they say it will fit your model of Ferrari! - Once sold, chances are they will not care if you can fit it or not! (Okay, there are many sellers on ebay who will care and be very helpful, but there are plenty of others who wont give a rats rectum once they've got you money!) 5) Double check anything claiming to be OEM! - There are many cases where an OEM item is anything but!
I made my own with a grinder Easy on a mill also Adjust, lube your linkage take out any sloppy parts and your good to go. My 355 spider shifts amazing
Just no joy in a automatic, one of the main reasons I don't go 458. It's just not that mechanical feeling I love and enjoy
Personally I have no problem shifting this car as fast as anything else with a manual trans. I don't feel the gate is a hinderance. Besides, 355 f1 is slower anyway Image Unavailable, Please Login
F1 is faster around a track, and the gear shifts are faster and more reliable in general. But, imagine if you could get a '95 with the F1 box? You'd then have a "more powerful" engine with the "faster" box! It's all bollocks, of course. The main thing is that a 355F1 is virtually as fast as the car which replaced it (F360). The difference is so small that it is really nothing. I can't think of any other FCars which you can say that about...
F1 shifts in sport are amazing. 6mt drivers don't kid yourself lol. I owned both love the 6 speed now but the f1 in sport is a beast. Of course 95 motor is stronger tho!
.3 seconds haha I'm sure all the exact same things happens on those dates. Like driver, humidity, temperatures, track conditions and everything else haha So all of us with manual cars don't need to get one of these then.
Never had "clanky slow shifts". If you can't shift the OEM stick properly then perhaps one should switch to an F1 trany.
This might be a good time to tell a <TRUE> Story::: In my '95 F355 M6 on street tires (Bridgestone S03s) I would chase down and pass 360 F1s on r-compound tires, twice in a 25 minute session a 1:45 second track. That car SHOULD be 7-seconds quicker ..... but was being driven a full 15 seconds slower. F1 is faster around a track only when the driver is also capable of driving within 2 seconds of the lap record for that particular car. Outside of this, 99% of drivers are slower than one who can drive within 2 seconds of the lap record, even with all the goodies thrown at their cars.
I am 55 and way slower, at 25 was another story. I absolutely know and feel the difference and no way want to lie to myself that I can drive a car or bike to its limit for extended periods as I was able when all the moons aligned. I'll just shift and have my fun had to check I wrote shift and not sh't, I do that too
No, I just posted that to mess with the F1 guys. I think the difference in acceleration is not the trans of course but 2.7 vs 5.2. Motor trend shows a similar difference in acceleration (but of course these are both manual) 1995 Berlinetta 1/4 mile 12.8 @110.2 1996 Spider 1/4 mile 13.4 @106.8 Also my 95 made 32rwhp more than my 99. I still say F1 355 is not faster than manual because the fastest year is 95
I think it's more a question of the type of experience you want, rather than which is faster. The 550 I drive was certainly a more mechanical, involved feeling experience. Even though the 550 was V12, the 458 I drove felt much more about speed. I really think it's all about the type of experience you're looking for.
I still like the extra effort and control of a manual shift, but as the ravages of time will inevitably take it's toll on physical abilities .... the 'mouse click' shifting of the F1 may not be such a bad thing ...
2.7 vs. 5.2... 2.7 breathes better and makes more power, the reason all years of 355 Challenge cars ran 2.7. They changed to 5.2 in '96 due to OBD II requirements and the new upcoming F1 shift ECU is "CAN'ed" to the 5.2. Plus, they changed the drop gear ratio in the 5.2 trans so the car would maintain previous top speed spec even though it makes less power.
