Ferrari 488 GTS: here it is?

A fond of Ferrari came to Maranello to spot the new 488 GTB and found a 488 GTS Spider prototype. What do you guys think about this?

Isn't it too soon to see a Spider version of the 488? Definitely too to me.

That's definitely the spider and with a glass cover over the engine for the first time that I can remember on the v8 Ferrari convertible. Very interesting!!

 

Impressive... And Speciale is coming. Sure.

 

Ugh....so disappointed in the sound

 

The 488 continues to look and sound great. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to get my hands on mine. 😀

 

Will be interesting to see how the roof works with that window over the engine. Assuming it's a targa top.

First time? 360 and F430 had glass cover, too.

Yep you are both kind of right. 360/430 spider had glass but both were soft top convertible. This would be first hard top convertible with the glass. It looks like they took the cue from some of the aftermarket parts I've seen for the 458 Spider.

It's not going to be a targa top They will retain all the convertible mechanicals from the 458
Just like they did with 348 to 355 and 360 to 430.It's only when they have an all new design
is when there is a big delay in bringing the convertible out

design wise at least looks a big improvement on the 458 spider

 

I actually think the 488 sounds good for a turbo charged car. I think it was unrealistic for anyone to expect it to sound like a 458, but it still has a Ferrari sense to the sound. Also Im liking the look of that spider.

very much preproduction though as the turbo intakes are completely blocked it looks like unless that is some mystery material

 

Spider was ready from day 1. It's already been shown to AAA dealrs. Will premiere in Frankfurt.

 

Interesting to not see the intakes! I noticed the same.

They're just covering so people will not recognize it as a spider
I'm sure low speed runs don't need them for cooling

Assume I can pull the vacuum lines like my California first? Only Turbo I've ever owned is my X3 35i and the sound is insulated.
