Mayweather is arguably the best boxer in history... He will likely tie or surpass Rocky Marciano's coveted 49-0 record. Unfortunately, a significant component of boxing is defense and the ability to not get hit and counter punch. Anyone who has followed "the sweet science". Knows this. Muhammad Ali was a master at this, Pernell Whitaker, Roy Jones Jr., as well as Lennox Lewis to an extent. Most people, including Casual fans prefer a true Brawler and knock out artist like Tyson, Foreman, Joe Frazier, and Pacquiao. Their victories are much more entertaining, and carry a lot more hype and conversation. Watch all of Floyd Mayweather's 47 victories, and they will all look eerily similar...boring, dancing, running, holding, counterpunching, out pointing his foe...every single time. Manny's only chance in this fight was to knock Floyd out in 5 rounds, and many of us that truly follow the sport know this. I was sincerely hoping and praying for it, and Manny gave admirable effort but could not do it. Many times in life we do not achieve all our goals. This "fight of the century" was watched by millions of people that have never seen a boxing match before and boxing was hoping for a rejuvenation of its popularity. What we did see, in my opinion is the Death of Boxing as a legitimate sport, with new concerns of head injuries, horrible politics in setting up a heavily biased matchup, and the "Money can buy anything" theme that this "fight of the century" implored. What the hell was the Mexican National anthem have to do with this fight- Cinqo de Mayo is 3 days away! ( Mexico put huge amount of money into the fight to promote tourism-notice the "Mexico" logo on the ring ropes. All the new people witnessed what boxing's best can do, and most would come to the consensus that that "dance" was not worth a $130,000 Ringside seat or even $100 pay per view. Floyd and even Manny are laughing at all of us for paying up for this crap...

Good post, except for the part about Floyd being the best boxer in history. You bought in once, don't buy into that. He's not even close. You could say top five defensive boxer in history.

Floyd has always courted the Mexican fan. The whole country pays to see him loose. Brilliant.

I made an earlier post about not being a sucker for Mayweather and was attacked for saying it. Make no mistake, every decision made concerning this fight was controlled by Mayweather, including the choreographed tempo. He got EVERYTHING he wanted, then broke off a piece and handed it to Pacquiao. His paycheck aside, you could even say he got played too. It's not that he's not great, it's the entertainment value. You have to decide what you're limit is. I think the majority would agree it's not $100.

If anything this "Super Dud Fight" sours fans on the sport, not builds it up.

Now on a positive note, if you new fans want to see a really good fight, next week Canelo vs. Kirkland should be real, and exciting, and it's free!

Not really arguing with you about Floyd being the best ever. Record wise he almost is. However, if Floyd was in Rocky 3, Clubber Lang would have considered Floyd a "Chump."

I would have loved to see that scumbag woman beater lose.

Though to separate the boxing when Mayweather is so brashly a horrible person.

To the casual boxing fan, this was a boring fight where the bad guy won.

I don't think the fight was boring, only predictable. Mayweather whether anyone likes him or not is extremely talented. He isn't undefeated because he's a thug. He's a skilled athlete. We don't have to like him on a personal level but anyone who knows boxing can't deny the guy has what it takes to win.

Ha, just heard the gambling community is sueing Pacquiao about not disclosing his injured shoulder. What a joke, nobody takes responsibility for their own failures. What did I say about gambling? Yeah, I stand by it double time. Serves them right.

I doubt that's the end of it. People have to figure out how to get even as they continue to seth about being taken.

So the rematch prediction I got right...Mayweather said he's down to rematch once Manny gets healthy (2016 when MGM's new ring is done and Floyd likely will be 49-0 entering that). I was wrong about how it got to that point with the entire shoulder fiasco and now surgery. This entire thing is rigged to make as much money as possible.

The news about Pacquiao's shoulder injury puts a rematch in question, because what if he doesn't recover fully? We have seen similar injuries end careers in sports. How Pacquiao handled the disclosure of his injury looks like it may become a major controversy.

Fact - its spelled "seethe" not seth.

Fact - many people did not bet on Pacquiao, they bet on Mayweather. So all those people are not seething and were not taken, they are very happy about winning money.

Lets not let facts get in the way of being both accurate and fair in a balanced discussion, even when it costs you nothing to make proclamations.

Agree. If Pacquiao had 4 arms he still would not have beaten Mayweather. He couldn't handle Floyd's speed and accuracy. Time to get passed this fight and any rematch. Just wouldn't be interested in seeing one. I do think the upcoming Canelo vs Kirkland fight should be great. Also one week later GGG will enter the ring which is always exciting. Looking forward.

Hmmm. I think PAP needs a warning Sackey, he just called people stupid. Are you going to police all my comments? I think was referring to all the people who bet on Pacquiao, thus the lawsuit! Geez.

If I could sum it up as a complete laymen having only watched larger boxing events and growing up loving Marciano but thats about where my expertise stops

I would say the world was SOLD a FIGHT.

The world tuned in for a FIGHT.

    What we got was BOXING.
