On ebay I see the round tire-sized kit, the roll (in two sizes) and the briefcase, all listed as for a 400i.

    My car came w/o any.

Which would have been correct for the model and year and is it worth paying the not-small price to get one for the car?

The tool kit is the round two compartment circular leather kit that nests in the spare tire wheel. One side has the tools and the other has the first aid kit.

The jack and accessories are in a leather mini satchel with two leather buckle straps.

thanks, clarified it for me too; price is always what one is willing to pay but the ones listed on ebay so far seem quite high (and not necessarily complete). Am awaiting my chance too :)

Thanks all, perfect. Sigh, I need two expensive pieces.

What car got the crazy briefcase?

The briefcase came in the earlier cars....and it's even MORE expensive! Haha.

Your tool kit looks as though it has a lot of non-standard aftermarket wrenches in it and may be missing some pieces.

These are photos of my toolkit (83 400i) and contents of the jack bag:

Yup...my medic/tools look correct, yours look PERFECT...mine appears to be original to vehicle, the small bottles still have liquid in them.
My jack and bag look correct, you have some additional pieces. ...no surprise there.
