hi, ive read through the owners manual and searched but did not find anything.. the manual describes the temps a fan turns on, but does not distinguish which side and when..? a fellow local fchat 355 owner mentioned the LH fan is related to the AC..? I hear my RH fan come on all the time no problem.. but I dont beleive ive ever heard the LH fan come on, during my short ownership.. if the LH fan is indeed related to the AC.. then that would be my answer.. cause my AC is currenlty not functional.. if LH fan is not dependend on the AC.. then perhaps the car has not seen hot enough temps to turn it on..? thanks. Tony.
You are correct, he LH fan turns on with the A/C ...... and should also turn on at about 190 F ...... there is a thermal switch on the top of the LH radiator that triggers the LH fan relay. That thermal switch is known to go bad and may trigger at higher temps. Here is the Ricambi replacement of that switch; Ferrari Parts : 158655 SWITCH/TEMP : Ricambi America
hi. ok much appreciate the input. good to know the LH fan is not 100% dependent on the AC. my AC is not working so that eliminates it going on for that. but if it's supposed to go on at 190F/88c then it's not coming on. right side comes on no problem though even with my AC not functioning I do think I've heard the Lh fan come on once or twice. but based on what you said if the LH thermo switch is starting to die then maybe it triggers only at higher temp which it has likely not seen yet this spring. I'm dropping the car off this Friday at my shop so I'll ask to investigate this.
If the fan is original, be sure to check that the fan runs at all. Wire it on. If it's dead, replace replace the fuse and replace the fan with SPAL 30102050 which is a sealed motor and will last longer. The thermo switch isn't the only unreliable part. 我從使用 Tapatalk 的 LT29i 發送
Check fuse for LH fan. Not uncommon as the fans get old, that they start drawing excessive current, and blow the 30 amp fuse. Resist the temptation to install a 40 amp fuse. The solution if the fuse is blown, is a new fan...it is on the way out anyway. The Spal 2050 fan is the superior replacement. While it runs a couple hundred cfm slower, it will still cool just fine, the 355 guys in Vegas and Arizona have confirmed this. (I had no problems in 90+ degree days myself) The advantage is the 2050 has sealed bearings and avoids the wear issue of the oem fan, and won't blow fuses, as it runs at a lower peak current at start up. It is a direct replacement with the correct plug and mounting. You might consider replacing both fans if one is bad....they are only $125 or so each, online from "The fan man". (google search). Even an DIYer like me can swap them both out in about 1.5 hours...it is an easy project. I have even done this swap for friends.
The Lewis Hamilton (LH) Fan turns on when Free Practice 1 starts............ {Sorry could not resist}
Sadly............ every part on the car would fit the 'unreliable' description .... He did mention he heard the fan turn on once or twice .....
Give him a call. 30102050 isn't even listed on SPAL USA's own website, it can only be found with a P/N search. Give him a ring, see if he can get you some at cheaper than SPAL itself.
As mentioned, the fan man has spal fans at a great price .... you just have to install the proper connector ....

The 3050 fan has the correct plug, saving on splicing the old one on. The 3049 is the same exact fan, but has the AMP connector on it...that was the one many of us used in years past, and required splicing the connector from the old fan, onto the new. Now with the 3050 fan, it is a very simple swap. Plug and Play, as they say...
